Project M Dolphin vs. Wii

I downloaded the hackless version of Project M not that long ago and have been playing it on my Wii. I've heard that Project M can also be run on Dolphin. I was just wondering a couple things.

1. How accurate is Dolphin running Project M, at least as far as gameplay goes? Is there any stuttering or weird gameplay issues, or does it basically function the same as Wii as long as you have a good computer?

2. Is there significant input lag (or possibly other issues) associated with using a Mayflash adapter to allow a regular Gamecube Controller to be used with Dolphin (not much point in practicing with a non-GC controller since switching between Dolphin and Wii would be confusing)? I did a search on the Dolphin forums and found that RetroLink usb controllers don't work well, but couldn't find a definitive answer to my question.

Overall, I'd like to run Project M Dolphin since it can run in full HD and just for convenience, but if the controls/gameplay doesn't match up real well, I'd probably just stick with my Wii. Thanks in advance.

Its basically the same thing. I've switched to Wii from dolphin a couple times and never really noticed a difference. There isn't any significant input lag with mayflash, but 1/1,000,000 times it'll drop an input MAYBE. I've never noticed that happen before, dolphin is pretty worth it IMO.

1) Well list your pc specs because that will determine if you will be able to run it perfectly or not.

2) No lag with Mayflash adapter however playing online over NetPlay will result in about 2 frames of delay

Thanks for the responses, I'll get a Mayflash adapter.

1)
Windows 7
Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20 GHz (dual core)
4 GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB
Hard drive isn't RAID or anything like that

2)
I clicked on the link in your signatures and am following the instructions. I didn't even know about NetPlay, that definitely makes Dolphin worth it if I can run it smoothly.

Your cpu is kinda old and weak for Dolphin, but if I were you I'd run the procedure and try it out and see how it plays.

Yeah, my computer's about 4 years old. I ran the procedure and can play two player matches at full speed on pretty much all the maps except Skyloft (which barely runs half speed). 4 player matches also don't run at full speed on maps like Corneria and Fountain of Dreams that are fairly detailed or use special effects. Is there a way to download less detailed but gameplay identical versions of maps like these (assuming they exist)? And if so, could they be used during netplay or would they cause desyncs? Thanks in advance.

Skyloft is a very laggy stage due to the fact that the background is like 20 times bigger than the stage (which you can't see). I made a custom version of Skyloft that is lagless. You can't just download less laggy stages without desyncing. I suppose if you could find some you could make another iso for offline use. However we do have a community NetPlay build that features some less laggy stages. It's currently being updated and the new update should be released within the next few days. Keep in mind you can only use the community build with someone else that has the community build. You can find it on the NetPlay ladder (see the link in the guide in my siggy).
