Not sure if there was an old one but I've always wanted an aesthetics thread. Plus I also want a more fun thread in this forum :p
Things we can discuss.

I've always wondered why the PMBR hasn't done an overhaul on the models, textures and menus in this game... I understand that we can customize all of that ourselves, but does that necessarily mean that PM should stick with the Brawl aesthetic? Not at all. Is it an issue of space? Time? Can menus specifically not be edited extensively?

I don't know, but I do know that PM getting a more unique aesthetic could go a long way in giving the game stronger individuality and maybe even popularity. People like to judge things based on their appearance, so if PM looked more new and shiny, I think the game could reach a bigger audience.

For the menu I'd love to see the character names removed from the character selection screen in their little boxes. It's already so cluttered and their names already appear below when you select them, making it redundent. Names have already been removed from the battle portrait so I think it's about time they do the same to the character selection screen.

Also, that results screen....it's the only part of project m which looks unfinished compared to the polish displayed throughout the rest of the game. I also think it's time we move away from this attempt at melee's aesthetics, at least in this case.

The menu is fine, the stages should be higher graphics (I mean if Dreamland is from 64 thats a reaons why its not HD but thats not a reason to keep it at that low quality).
Some animations lower your alpha bursts when getting the hit (as do the sound effects) if they just look/hear like weak/bad hits. It doesn't give that satisfaction of hitting them. Sometimes the animations also look unsmooth, especially with movement.
The motion of the tags should be stabilized somehow, its weird if you dashdance and in the pivot frame(s) the vertival height of the tag changes drastically, making it look flickery.
I'm fine with the character models and other stuff.

Sound effects are an other thing but I won't go too much into detail here.

All in all, good job so far but a few things could need a bit of work. I'm totally fine though if it is delayed a bit because balance etc. has priority.

This also has to do with the fact that most of Brawl's sfx is very soft and not satisfying in general. One huge difference is Falcons Knee sfx. In Melee it was loud and had an electric sizzle sound, in Brawl and PM it sound like a squishy pillow being smacked. I wonder if they can make a compilation of the sfx in all three games that sound satisfying in general. It would be pretty cool.

My favorite part of the aesthetic is the liberal use of purple, my favorite color.
But other than that the custom costumes look super rad, textures look fine, and the stages are pretty cool.
I can't really speak on the other topics!

Purple is pretty awesome. Nice on the eyes.
