(Project M 3.6 & cBliss Tool) Need help with freezing character select screen

Hello, this is my first post on Smashboards, so if i'm particularly needy or posting this on the wrong board or something, er... sorry.
I have been trying to get new alts on certain characters for the last 2-4 days. I am very new to the customizing stuff here, the most i've done was plaster in new BRSTMs. After trying to use the ASL+cBliss pack for a majority of that time, i realized "Hey, i only want like 3 characters to have more alts! I'll just do that in cBliss."
So i added 10 to only Peach (got the extra files for peach as well), Zelda, and Shiek, and left everyone else unchecked.
I downloaded the gameconfig.txt from a post linking to mewtwo2000's mediafire, and put it in my file and booted it up. It worked out great! ....until i pressed Y on the characters that didnt have extra alts, and the game froze. Okay. Okay.
(also a model for shiek didnt work and froze it when the match loaded up, but i'm sure that's a pac/pcs problem, unrelated really)
So, i tried to look in the gameconfig file and see if maybe i can edit it to only fit to those characters-- nope. I dont understand this stuff, i've been holding off of posting a thread just because i'm afraid of asking the same thing someone else did that i just missed, but i really need the help.
Is there a way to customize the gameconfig.txt so only certain characters will get the extended slots?

you need a new one that holds infinite codes. here is a download https://www.dropbox.com/s/xc18jrz6eiuumkp/gameconfig.txt?dl=0
When i put it in, pressing y or reaching the other side of the alts still crashes the wii. (I dont know if i said i'm running homebrew.) Thanks, maybe i did something wrong.
I don't have alts put in for any other characters besides the ones i said, and those characters are unchecked in cBliss.

unrelated, and i think i have a solution to this part so just ignore it
my problem with Shiek and the 08 and 09 slots are happening still, although that might just be because i basically used this as my char. select portrait and battle portrait via costume manager

I also dont have stock icons for those slots, but other skins are working without them so it doesnt affect me much

The gameconfig.txt file is unrelated to Cbliss. Just download the one mythbust4000 linked to and put it in the root of the SD card. You should never have to make any changes to it for any reason.

Cbliss works by editing the RSBE01.gct file in the codes folder. Make a copy of that and put it in the same folder as the .exe file for the Cbliss tool. Click on the name of a character, click the edit button, use the drop down menu to change the number of costumes the character has and click apply.

When you say you're using a Cbliss+ASL pack, I assume you mean this one. http://smashboards.com/threads/cbliss-asl-for-project-m-3-6-kit.414933/ Make sure you're following the instructions included in the download and that you've copied all the included menu files on your SD card, overwriting the ones that came with Project M originally.

DO NOT USE COSTUME MANAGER! It is severely outdated and not fully compatible with the latest versions of Project M. I would suggest just editing the menu files manually with BrawlBox instead. Character cosmetics come in the form of character select portraits (CSPs), battle portraits (BPs, the small square images that appear next to your damage percentage in a match), result screen portraits and stock icons. Here is a tutorial for editing these files. https://www.reddit.com/r/SSBPM/comments/2qcmrv/how_to_change_35_csps_bps_and_rsps_includes_lists/ This was written for Project M 3.5 but the information is still accurate for 3.6. Another thing is to make sure the sizes of the images are all correct. CSPs and RSPs should be 128x160, BPs should be 48x56 and stock icons should be 32x32. Everything also needs to be a PNG file before being imported with BrawlBox. The image you had linked to in your last post is too large to be used as a battle portrait so that needs to be resized.

For Sheik, make sure of the following:
-Her and Zelda need to have the same number of costumes since they transform between each other.
-Her costumes need to have both a pac file and a pcs file. If the costume you downloaded only came with one of them, you can open it in BrawlBox and save it as the other file.
-Make sure all costumes are placed under the proper character's folder within the fighter folder.

If Sheik still isn't working, post a link to the costume you were trying to use and I'll see if there may be anything else wrong with it.

(sorry for the late reply, i remade the build using brawlbox and it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that there's an import button...)
Okay, thanks a lot! I am currently redoing my build as i type this out.
I should rephrase a bit, though. I was reading through my OP and i could barely understand what i was saying, and I wrote it! I am not using that cBliss+ASL build anymore, and i wasnt when i was having problems. It was unrelated, sorry. I'm redoing my build, but i made a smaller battle portrait for shiek (just exported mario's battle portrait and reduced the colors and made it grayscale) and it worked fine. Thanks. But i'm not using that build so i should stop sidetracking.

What i'm doing now is, i'm getting my clean vanilla backup of homebrew PM 3.6, putting it through cBliss and only editing those three characters to have the 10 slots (everyone else is unchecked), putting the new RSBE01 file through ASL and only adding two alts, (STGGW_F and _R). I put in the new gameconfig, and then I then threw up all of my old brstms into the sound>strm folder, and i edited the files via brawlbox to change the titles. I've added in the .pacs and .pcss files, and the extra files for peach. After the two days i've had this in my drafts, i've imported everything for all three characters. I tested them out, every new and edited alt for those characters and they all worked fine!
Unfortunately, my problem still exists. I pressed Y hovering over a character i didn't edit and has the normal amount of slots, it still does the loud freeze. What did i do wrong/not do?
also thanks for bearing with me

only editing those three characters to have the 10 slots (everyone else is unchecked)
i'm at work so i don't have cbliss tool in front of me, but iirc, cbliss will default to setting everyone to 10 costumes. unchecking them i don't think actually excludes them from this. you can, however, go through them and manually setting them to be the number they have in vanilla

Which character is causing the crash?
Every character that i didnt edit/doesnt already have 10 slots (characters like wolf, marth, and mario have ten slots in vanilla PM if i recall correctly, they work fine.)

but iirc, cbliss will default to setting everyone to 10 costumes.
Oh yeah, it does set everyone's slots to ten before unchecking them. Maybe that's it, i'll try it right now. Thanks.
Oh my god, it worked! It works!! Thanks man this really helped me out! The only one's i've tested in battle were the ones i added and the Pokemon trainer alts but everything else should be fine, Random didnt crash the system either. Thanks.
If anyone else in the future is reading this, i put my RSBE01.gtc through cBliss again, made sure everything had a check, and edited the numbers to their defaults. Thanks guys, and i hope this can help someone else out in the future trying to make their own build of PM.
Remember that zero counts as costume slot, so if a character has ten slots, it's 00 through 09.
