Project M 3.5 Freezing At The Start of Battle

Hi! I'm new here. And i'm just here to report a problem i have been having. So i got the new update for Project M installed it correctly and everything. Boot the game up, start a match. Then it freezes! And makes a weird noise! Now, i dunno if this is something i did or..... Here's something worth noting. My VBA emulator on Homebrew channel here isn't working ether. It just says something about not locating the library or something? Dunno if that helps or not. If you guys know how to fix that too that would be great! This place has been awesome by the way! Love the guides and everything!

I would suggest you attempt a clean install of Project M (Format SD card, reextract Project M onto it), if you haven't already, and then clarify if that helped or not. It could be anything from a file not being where it should be, a data corruption, or something with too large of a filesize, and a clean install is the best way to eliminate a number of possible culprits.

Well i mean i did upgrade my SD Card a while back. So maybe when i was transferring stuff i messed up something? I also have Homebrew Channel installed on there, so do i just take everything out, format it, then put everything back in, then re-install Project M?

It's very possible that's the case. As far as putting everything back in, I would suggest everything excluding any of your current Project M files, on the off chance that the culprit may not be overwritten properly (stray rel file, etc). Otherwise, yes; backup anything else on the card you might want to keep/restore, format the card, restore your non-smashbros related files, then do a clean reinstall of the latest version of PM from the website.

I've got some info. Did what you said. So i boot everything up, see last time i only tried one stage and that was the Hyrule Castle remake. But this time i picked a different stage, i picked Pokemon Stadium 2. It worked this time. But when i exited out of the match it froze again. So i don't think formatting it helped, since i think before formatting it if i would picked a different stage, then i will get these results i just got.

When you reinstalled, did you ust put the same files back on or did you extract them from the .zip again or redownload them?.. if you didn't, you should try that... also what's the format of your sd card?..

I just extracted them from the Zip again. And it is the FAT format.

My 3DS SD Card. But that's 16 GB.

PM has a code that enables SDHC support so that'll work... Only hackless version needs a non-sdhc card...

Same thing happened to me. I was hoping it wasn't anything save related. Can't even play classic mode . Freezes when it shows the Stage 1 title. Tried figuring out how to delete save data, but I have no wiimote

I made mine using that project m netplay builder. Works fine on dolphin lol

I hear the netplay build doesn't work properly on console...

I suppose I have a bad iso. I didn't get any errors ro anything, and I used the [OFFLINE USE ONLY] package but still end up with a frozen classic mode. I was switching colors for mewtwo and it froze :/

I suppose the issue was transferring it as a wbfs file instead of as an iso. Now it works fine lol. Thanks :D

I mean i can try it. To see if it works. But thats for my 3DS and i need the extra space for a certain game. Couldnt i just email you the files on the SD Card? That you can look at it, and try to see it for your self?

I dunno, thought you might know more then me......... Here, someone told me to take all the files off the SD Card, but keep only the PM Files and see what happens.

only files that would interfere with PM would be other brawl hacks... you should try the 3DS card... if that works we know you need a new card...
