So I've been trying to use the SSB4 theme as a replacement for the Menu 2 music in Project M, and I just can't get it to work.

I'm using the Project M BRSTM template from BrawlCustomMusic.com and am renaming the file to "X03" as suggested: http://www.brawlcustommusic.com/39260[1]

But I have no idea where to put the file.

I heard it was under \projectm\pf\sound\strm

But when I pasted the file named "X03", Brawl loaded up with some sort of "Reading Vault data" message I'd never seen before, and the custom stages screen never loaded.

Am I missing something obvious here? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you've got an entirely different issue there. Remove the SD card, and double-check that Brawl doesn't have any custom stages on your save file.

And have you successfully booted Project M before?

Yes, many times.

Well, good news. For some reason, when I added a ton more custom music, it just works now.

No more complaints. :) But it is strange...that error happened consistently with only one song added instead of Menu 2.

The way I got it to work before was by loading Brawl first, THEN inserting the SD card right before launching the custom stages option.

But now it just all-around works again.

Thanks for your help!

sounds like you just had a random bug, then... it can happen sometimes...
Yeah, I'm beginning to figure that out haha. Generally formatting/defragging does the trick.

Weird, I just did the same thing practically.. I still get the vault data message at the beginning, and none of my custom songs are working.. don't know what to do :/ I've added a few more songs, but still no success.
