Level 9 Cpus are weird in melee. I am using a rom for melee because I don't have the game nor a gamecube. And I'm training to enter a tournament. And I train off of level 9 bots. I have to use a keyboard until I get an adapter for my GC controller. Anyway, the bots always have priority over me. Meaning that they always jab before I can do anything. Say I try to grab them, They grab me first. Is this a glitch? or something that Sakurai programmed? Plz help!
The only person I can beat the bots as with all 4 stocks is Marth.

3: Do not practice on bots unless it's basic stuff like combos on a low-level bot. Just get tech skill down. You
don't have basic technicality down until you do just about everything in the video AirFair mentioned and the four videos I just linked, and there's still much more to Melee past that.
4: Focus on just Marth for now. Too many people try to main too many characters and don't make progress. Along the way, if you have all the basic technicality down and start to beat players, that's a good time to consider a secondary or even tertiary.
5: Watch top Marth professionals like Mew2King, PPMD/Dr. Peepee, PewPewU, Salepate, The Moon, Ken, Taj, KDJ, and Husband. Find combo videos of Marth as well. Just use this time to absorb as much Marth play as you can.
I cannot stress this enough, no matter how poorly/well you perform,
keep going to tournaments and stay in touch with your scene's players. You will never be good at the game without this step.
