Problem with ledge-dashing

Has anyone else noticed that if you drop from a ledge with Luigi and instantly jump you end up getting pushed backwards? It's like his head hits the stage while he's twirling and it pushes his feet/body backwards. This actually makes it pretty hard to do a quick perfect ledge-dash.
