Hello! I'm new and I was just wondering if anyone knew solution the fix the problem I have.

My problem is that when I click down on the controllers right trigger it refuses to go down all the way.(TL;DR - It won't click )
Would the mix-matching of old and new Gamecube controller parts (Specifically the trigger parts) cause this?

I recently painted my controller so it might most likely has something to do with that.

I recall opening up one of my friend's controllers where the trigger wouldn't go down all the way and click and finding that the trigger wasn't on the small plastic rod near the trigger itself (not sure how this happens, might be the whole "pressing the trigger at an angle" issue). May or may not be this but his problem seemed pretty distinct to me, so that's why that came to mind with the way you describe it not clicking.

When it comes to mix-matching parts typically people prefer placing older parts (especially the triggers, some with and some without the metal bars) into them, so if you plan to do that I'd actually recommend it if you've got spare triggers, even more so if you have one of the smash 4 reissue controllers.

If this isn't the problem, then it might be the paint? You'd have to check closely, but you could probably fix that with a bit of sanding around the hollow where the trigger resides.

Ayyy, I got it working by moving the plastic rods I THINK you were talking about back to "neutral" position. Thank You so much!
