Pre-Order Concerns

I have been considering whether or not to pre-order a copy of smash 4 online, I'm wondering if any of you have ever pre-ordered a game online. Tell me about your experience. I'm worried that it will ship on the release date, and I won't be able to play smash until after all of my friends and everyone else get it.

I dont see why anyone preorders things online when they could easily just drive to a store and pick it up. And chances are you wont get it until at LEAST a day after release.

Idk how pre-ordering over there works, but over here it's really just reserving a game for yourself to pick up when you have time to go to the store and possibly some extras (e.g. OR & AS collectibles)

It depends who you preorder it from. For most games Amazon has release day delivery. That being said it probably won't come first thing in the morning but I imagine it would be there when you got home from school. However, as I said while Amazon does this for most games it doesn't for all of them.

Here, at least, I can get a game shipped to my house if I wanted to. Only game I've ever used it on was Minecraft PS3 Edition, and it arrived on release day around noon.

I usually drive to pick up my games anyway. Game store is only 10 minutes from my house.

It depends on the source, but almost universally it will arrive after the release date, as in most cases it's not allowed to ship until the release date.

Check or call the retailer if you have further questions, it's quite likely to vary by location and retailer.
