I've read the first pages of the Peach gameplay stickies on this board and the Ambiguous Reach Guide. I want to pick her up, since I'm done with Shulk. What should I be practicing with Peach as I begin her?

I'm trying to learn each character I like. Shulk is pretty technique oriented and from what I've read on the stickies, so is Peach. I enjoyed Peach in Melee anyhow.

Here are some links to getting used to peach and her gameplay

@Dark.Pch Competitive Analysis, tips, gameplay etc http://smashboards.com/threads/competitive-peach-guide-rundown-3ds-updated-10-2-2014.368094/, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H6wjmt24T4&list=UUhqY2TO8vmLxtxhUi9jeuqA, http://www.twitch.tv/ninjalink/c/5120449

My number 1 tip is to not get into bad habits. As you start learning Peach, don't rush things. Peach is not a character you can rush things with nor she is a rush-down character, read and watch all of these guides and play her like a book. The only part of peach you should be creative in is edge-guarding and aerial mixups. Never dash straight, into your opponent, and try to always approach with your turnips. Explore the forums here, and ask question. Good luck :]

Any Peach bad habits besides dash attacking or does that link list them? The only general bad habit I have is rolling like crazy.

Just played some matches against a guy who wasn't very good (I was bodying him as Shulk for awhile) and he straight up beat me badly. I don't know how to approach with Peach. The guy didn't punish my blocked Fairs and I have no clue how to get those auto-cancelled. Am I supposed to be jump baiting them? Like I should be floating in and out of range like a snake daring him to attack?

So I've already read the Competitive Peach stickie, but that is too high level for me. It reads like I've been intermediate to high level Peach in the past (float cancelling & "the way she played in Brawl"). I've never played high level Melee or Brawl/Project M (no wavedashing), so a lot of that guide reads like I'm familar with that area. Also, does anyone have a synopsis of that 1 hour and 25 minute video from Dark Pch? I don't want to watch more than an hour of a video to understand a concept (I'm willing to practice that long, so that is different).

What are some basic concepts? Like how do I practice where she floats right off the ground (I assume Tap Jump is off)? Is she an aerial or land based character? What move/s should I be focused on? If I had to answer those for Shulk, it would be he is an aerial character who shouldn't use Smash attacks and you should focus on Short Hopping with Nair and then Fast Fall to cancel the move out and try to hit with his odd hitboxes. Also because the Monado has a large range, zone people out with the tip and superior range most of his aerials have.

First and Foremost, do not go into a battle with Peach until you know her inside and out, if you are just picking up peach you shouldn't be just jumping into matches not knowing your means of approach. Peach is not a character that you just pick up, her technicality requires you to have extensive training and knowledge of all of her moves. If I were you, I would stop playing her right away, and jump into training mode for a couple of hours. In training mode, you want to start with her bread and butter, which are her moves and knowing their startup lag, active hitbox, and endlag. Choose the character to be a heavy weight such as DeDeDe or DK, and test your kill moves. On the ground, your main kill moves with be forward smash, down smash, and floated fairs, test the percentages of those. Next, you want to practice floating and spacing out your aerials, then turnips, etc. The video explains all of this in-depth. After you feel like, you know her basic mechanics battle a cpu. Your goal here is too develop habits of how you are going to appraoch, and applying what they taught you in those videos. It will take you a while for you to just jump into matches.

Edit: If you are on the wii u version and have a peach amiibo, go here to learn how your amiibo can get into good habits and become a more consistent, well rounded player. http://smashboards.com/threads/utilizing-amiibo-in-character-development.380604/

I watched video. I understand and can do ground floating. A lot of the video uses technicalities from Melee or Brawl. What is float cancelling in this game?

Ground Floating has it s uses but i see a lot of people sit in float for WAAY to long.

Since A lot of her aerials dont have large hitboxes or priority (looking at you Nerfed Nuetral and Back Air) I am seeing a lot pf people get punished here.

Stick to using this to guard ledges with FAir or better yet take advantage of her improved range on hew FSmashes.

One interesting setup though is the use of Dair out of ground floats. Her new Dair is pretty sick and has a lot of verstility

Misused the term sorry

Float Cancelling is different and Im not sure it works in smash 4.

It was used in Melee to remove landing lag
