Hey everyone,
I've been planning to host a SSB3D release party tournament the Sunday after the NA launch, and in doing so I've stumbled upon a problem: how do you enforce good sportsmanship and stop stalling in a handheld game?
In console based SSB games, spectators are pretty much a given, and so there are inevitably witnesses when someone is stalling a match. However, in the 3DS version, the game will be far more private. As a result, unsportsmanlike conduct may go unchecked. My idea so far is to tell players to report that their opponent is stalling right away, at which point a staff member would (hopefully be available to) watch the game over the reporter's shoulder. However, the stalling player could then just resume the match, and precious time would have already been wasted. I feel it would also be rather uncomfortable to have someone watching over my shoulder and crowding my personal space, and that might have an adverse effect on gameplay. Furthermore, with pausing turned off, the reporting player would only be able to shout something to get a staff member's attention-- raising a hand or the like wouldn't really be an option haha. Altogether, it feels like a less than ideal solution.
Does anyone have a better idea about how to approach this? I would love to hear any and all suggestions.
