I really hope you're right, tripping was one of the things that turned me away from Brawl.The only means of tripping is through forced ones through bananas, but he doesn't seem to be slipping on any. This could easily just be the start of his dash, as you can see the dust cloud right behind where he kicked his feet off.
During E3 of 2013, Sakurai had mentioned that tripping would be removed. You can see that here in this IGN article on E3: "Sakurai also confirmed to me that tripping, a significant and frustrating element from Super Smash Bros.
