Hey guys, I got the green light to run a SSB tourney at this event. HOWEVER, we have zero n64s. I don't even have one (my brother has it at college). If we can get 2 or 3 people to show up and bring setups then we can have a tournament. Let's come through guys. Would be awesome if the NJ crew could make a day trip for this.

Sounds awesome. I have some bad news though.... I got my cartridges from my friend, but there was NO SMASH. Very fishy. But yea so I still don't have a cartridge. I might just buy a new one at this point. I have an n64 though which I can bring, just no cartridge. How are we on TV's?

And while looking up this address I found out there is a Brooklyn in Maryland

If we brought our own TVs that would be ideal but I think we could get away with sharing with Brawl/Melee/PM if absolutely necessary. It'd be cool to have the MD/VA crew come to this.... myself, you, Star King, and A$.

Well I can almost guarantee no A$, since he's in college and in the wrong direction.

And I can almost guarantee no Star King because it's Star King.

You think we could do this tournament and also do a smashfest at your place? Tournies usually end up being not nearly enough games for me.

Didn't you say A$ goes to GMU? If he's by the metro I can give him a ride. Same goes for anyone else near the metro. People could come to my place for more smash afterwards depending on what time it is.

JMU... Close in name, but about a 1.5-2 hour difference in time. Hmm I'll prolly metro that then. I always forget about the metro since it doesn't come out to where I live.

Well this is really just a Melee/Brawl tournament that they said I can run SSB at so I wouldn't consider it a scheduling conflict.

Are there any other smashers interested from the VTech/Radford area or that would pass through on the way? I have two consoles, two cartridges, and a gameshark for stage shenanigans (pending ruleset Nintendude ^^). Also I have a place to stay in the Fairfax area, northern VA, and could possibly house some people. I'm just looking for a carpool of sorts.

Ok we got 3 Melee/Brawl people who said they can bring n64s for us to use. That's enough to run a small tourney so it's up to you guys to show up! Minimum 5-7 people will be a round robin and 8+ will be a bracket. Any less than 5 and it'll just have to be a mini smashfest.

im in maryland and i now own a setup that i could bring, however... on 3/10/13 im going on a cruise to the bahamas for 7 days and therefore cant make the tournament. with that said, if this is ever rescheduled or if there are any maryland smashers out there i would definitely attend a local tournament and bring games.

Shears, I saw in your post in another thread that you go to Vtech. You should play my friend. If you want, pm me your number and I can relay it to him. He's been looking for someone to play.

Dunno how often Shears checks this, so let me just tell you weedwack that Shears graduated last May, and lives and works in Maryland right now. Not to say he won't visit VT sometime in the future though

ok guys this is BASICALLY CONFIRMED. There's gonna be at least like 4 setups (not including ssb64 people) and one of the main TOs is going to help run it. They are expecting a turnout since they are nice enough to add 64 to their schedule to everyone please come!

Anyone know how to edit thread titles with the new smashboards? I need to update the title because this tournament is happening for sure.

I might come to this. Will bring at least 1 other person.
Doubtful at this point, but after chain-ace's NJ tourney I may make the trip down to MD too if I have time, maybe we can play it by ear. You're coming from New Hampshire right?

If Weedwack, Megavolt, sensei, or other peeps wanna talk about, or try to figure out a car pool situation too, def hit me up

What, NJ people are actually coming down for this? Just don't bring sensei, and I'll win the tourney. Counting on nintendude super rust AS USUAL.

Damn sounds like this is gonna be a real event, i'm pumped

Just a heads up...I won't actually be the one running the tournament (they have other TOs that said they'd do it). I'll probably just help with the seeding or something. Either way though it'll be local-sized so I don't foresee any problems. I just wanted to make this point clear.

Unfortunately I don't think there's gonna be teams unless there's a big demand for it. Hope to see you there, MarioReincarnate.

an overclocked n64 console (OC) is a hard modification that is done to make the console less laggy. by supplying more voltage to the CPU, the CPU's clock frequency(OVER-clock) increases by 50 to 100% (you are also able to go to normal speed as well as 50% reduced speed) resulting in less lag in times where there would be lots. at the same time that the clock frequency and voltages are increased, so increases the temperature of the CPU/RSP/RAM, requiring better than default cooling of the affected chips IF one wants to play more than 15minutes at a time. an OC mod DOESN'T remove ALL the lag ALL the time, but most of the time it is noticeably better and way closer to 60fps for teams and 4p play in most games. in my experience, in times where you don't need the increased speed, the frame limit doesn't exceed 60; i think the RSP chip is the frame limiter but i may be wrong.

i will be selling some in the near future as well as making a step-by-step video tutorial on how to do it the same way that i do, for anyone not afraid of doing it themselves, and hopefully to make it a tournament standard. i am spoiled when it comes to scrap copper and other tools not typically found in a garage or home tool box, so not everyone will be able to make it the EXACT same as myself.

So I take it the schedule on the event page is accurate, and smash singles starts at 3 pm? But signups are at 11:30... do we have to show up then? Would it be possible for someone else to sign me up and I could show up around 1:30/2:00? Oh and is M2K coming? I thought I saw him post in the thread.

if we get a scene going around here like we're trying to, i'll buy one from you kp. The only times I've ever gotten 4 real players together to play on console is apex though, so gotta get that scene up and running first.
