Hey guys. I'm just wondering do any of you know of some portable display that can fit in a roughly big backpack to be able to set up Melee or PM on the go as long as I can find a wall plug with two connectors?

I've thought of buying some LCD I found in Amazon but I'm sure it will lag.

In my college we use the ceiling mounted projectors to play and they don't lag at all so I've also thought of buying a projector for those purposes. Preferably old like the ones at my college since they all only accept analog connections (VGA, RCA, no hdmi ports or DVI) and are probably cheaper because they are older models.

I do have some displays in mind but I'm just asking in case someone here knows about this topic and good alternatives for the "struggle" me and my friends go through haha

If you are using a projector, you can only buy a CRT projector (the old ones) if you don't want lag. If you purchase any projector of any hardware technology such as LCD, DLP, or what have you, it's gonna lag. And unfortunately, those old CRT projectors are costly and most need repair. (You'd be spending at least 500$ on ebay since those things are super heavy and cost a lot to ship, so you wouldn't be able to lug it around anyway)

After doing research, I'm fairly certain there isn't a single 4:3 display designed with input lag in mind as 4:3 display monitors stopped being developed many years ago and never were made for the gamer in mind. They have poor ghosting issues (response time) and poor input lag (display lag).

Your most likely bet in my opinion is going to get one of these used (if price is an issue). It's 20 inches and it has confirmed only 11ms input lag (the lowest you are realistically gonna get on a LCD monitor)

You're also going to have to pick up this box which converts the signal to VGA so you can use it on the monitor.

If you use only Wii or Wii U itself and not a Gamecube, you can purchase this VGA cable which will remove the need for a converter box. Disclaimer, I have no idea if it works or not so be sure to read the reviews before you purchase.

So in truth, if you are wanting less of a load to carry with you, you're gonna have to spend money to make your life easier. The only other alternative is to purchase a small CRT around 12 inches from Goodwill or any thrift store near you and lug that around in your backpack. Just becareful not to slam the backpack down as CRTs contain electricity even when they aren't plugged in.

If you have any questions feel free to ask by tagging me, either way, good luck!

-UPDATE-

I believe I have found what you are looking for. The input lag is claimed by people to be low or non-existent. It's designed specifically for gamers so I have a bit of faith in it, and it's designed to be very portable in shape which is also helped by being only 15.5 inches. It easily fits in back packs as seen in the pictures.

Lower price here

It only uses HDMI, though, so if you aren't gaming on Wii U and only Wii, you'll need to pick this up.

All together with everything it should cost you 200 bucks. But hey, it'll make your life easier in the long run!
