similar to the item switch, do you think that there should be a pokemon switch, so you can turn off the pathetic ones like GGoldeen and Marrill? there has to be something like that embedded in the Melee code already, otherswise Bomb-fest and Legendary pokemon (events 3 & 37) are cheating us hardcore. who agrees that there whouls be an option like this? if not, how about unlockable?

I think it's an interesting idea, but it would completely take away the difficulty of getting bonuses like Mew Catcher.

I think it's a pretty good idea. It would make some cool minigames.
On the other hand, it would destroy some of the excitement you'd have when you get a good one.

@T/SM: Bonuses like Mew Catcher wouldn't change, because you would only be able to turn some pokemon off, you don't increase the chance of getting them, it would still be 1 in 250 (or something like that)

well said, splat. Mew and Celebi were legendary pokemon, but even in event 37 you couldn't get them like you could get Zapdos, Moltres, Entei, etc.

Sounds cool, I wanted to do this when I played with items. I think they should do for the new smashers [and those who want to remininess [sp?]].

I think it's a bad idea, it would make the Pokeball overpowerful if you could always get good Pokemon. The possibility of getting a worthless Pokemon adds to the risk of going after Pokeballs.

Why, if your turning off all the weak ones than obviously you don't care about the risk. And besides, who hasn't wanted a Ho-Oh to come out of every pokeball when you're bored?

So? There are plenty of overlypowerful items(hammer, bat, warp star, bo-bomb) but there are more weak items than powerful ones, so making the pokeball a little more powerful wouldn't throw th e whole game into a state of chaos.

Well personally I'd like to see this option's availability only after you have either:

A. Collected ALL of the pokemon trophies
B. Have seen all of the pokemon come out of the pokeballs in regular matches

Or possibly both. It would have to be something you only get after putting effort into the game first.

Just my two cents.

I agree with -XG-. If it comes with the standard item switch when unlocked, though, they could just make Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Manaphy, and Sheymin appear on the Pokemon Switch list as you see them for the first time.

You stole my idea, I've been saying this forever. Goldeen and Marill has been getting annoying, and this could defintely add some possiblities. Mew, Celebi, and maybe a few other Pokemon should be unlockable and do uber powerful moves, as oppose to just floating off worthlessly.

I like -XG-'s idea where you get the Pokemon edit option after you get the trophies of them, and/or have seen them in a normal match. This idea would bwe awsome if you go to Pokeballs on the item list, and click it and it shows all the Pokemon, and you could edit them jsut like items, except you could make some appear a lot more than other.

An example of this is Weezing appears high, while Charizard appears very low. That would make Pokemon totally more customizable, as well as items. As you can tell, I love lots of options, wthout options being a hastle, lol.

Heh, glad my idea went over so well. I'd actaully thought something quite similar to that would have worked in Melee when we were awaiting its release, but there was less customizable options to work from, so the 64 to Melee switch didn't prove to work with it.

Also, I just thought that another good implimentation they could use we be modding the power of a pokemon in such a way that you could either balance things out, make them all weak or strong, or even possibly make the weaker pokemon stronger and vice versa with the strong ones/legendaries. It would allow pokemon such as Maril (assuming he'll work the same way in Brawl) to become a smash hit rather than a multi-hit move. Variation indeed. :D

that wouldn't work either. you could just turn all pokemon off and you'd get those.
you'd need to have already gotten them to get the option to turn off any pokemon
