I like pokemon, and I wouldn't mind 6 reps, but I doubt there'll be that many. I'm guessing four. Pikachu, PT, Jiggs, and Lucario. And if five, Mewtwo.

The only series which deserves to get 6 characters is Mario, and even thats a stretch unless the roster is above 40. Pokèmon can do just fine with 4 or 5, just like Zelda. Thats more than any series outside of those three can expect to begin with.

There's no need for 6.
Following a pattern of 2, 4, 6 is stupid. That's like saying the weather yesterday was 0 degrees celsius, today's weather is 4 degrees celsius, therefore tommorow's weather is 8 degrees celsius.

EDIT: I like pokemon a lot, but it doesn't need anymore representation. It already has a big part in items, SSE, trophies/stickers, stages, etc.

3. Mewtwo (there is NO reason to remove him)

Everyone is happy, end of story. Pokémon deserves the same (if not more) reps then Zelda, since the series outsells it 3 to 1. 55 million units to 160 million units. Mario deserves 6, and that's no strech, because it is MARIO!

I really don't think there's a reason for any of the big franchises to get more characters than they had in Melee. The powers that be never did imply that was the case. In fact, constantly lumping new characters into franchises that are already heavily represented just fluffs up the roster while excluding all the smaller franchises that deserve a shot too. At least, that's the way I see it. I love Pokemon. I bought a Game Boy Pocket back in the day solely so I could play Blue. But honestly, this game has Pokemon coming out of its ears already.

I'm thinking Pokemon Trainer has replaced Pichu, and that's all the Pokemon changes from Melee that we're going to see in the roster. Frankly, I think the character design of Pokemon has been rolling steadily downhill since generation 1, and I would shed no tears over Lucario being confined to a pokeball with his 400-odd fellows.

I stand by my prediction that Pokemon will have 6 characters. Pikachu, Pokemon Trainer, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, a 3rd Gen, and a 4th Gen.

I'm also not against having another Pokemon Trainer type of character, specially if it's the one that represents 3rd Gen.

-Raikou(he didn't return in Brawl. i think, i didn't see his pict in smash dojo)
-Mewtwo(another method for his return)
-any Regi(Regice/Regirock/Registeel)

he'll have pokemon from each region

There will be at least 4, perhaps 5.

Besides Pikachu and Pokemon Trainer there will also be Jigglypuff and Mewtwo or Lucario (maybe both).

So I agree with other poster's 5 is the right number but it's a bit too many characters for just one franchise I suppose.
