Pokemon Mew Effects?

Can someone tell me what kind of effects does the pokemon Mew have? some of my friends told me that it just appears and doesn't do anything.

Mew does not have any correlation to events whatsoever. However, its movepool is GIGANTIC. Seriously, Mew can learn the vast majority of competitively viable moves in the series.

If you're talking about Smash Bros Brawl (there are forums for that too in here, you know... >.>), it appears, drops a bunch of CDs (or nothing if you have them all already) and then goes away.

In Brawl, it would just appear and drop rare cds just like Celebi who drops trophies and jirachi who drops stickers. In melee, it appears and I believe it awards you with points.

It really has nothing to do with the actual Pokemon game, haha.
