I main Ice climbers and I feel this can be related to teams and even singles with other characters.

I've come to understand that if I focus hard on edge guard I can do things like always grab people out of their recovery, do low edge hog bairs that smacks marth before he can choose to stall with his 2nd jump to up-b and recover wi th nana.

I can shield sdi and make fox whiff a shine out of nair shine pressure get a free grab, or de-synce my shields to mess with L - cancel timing and try to hit fox at 2 different times.

And etc.

However sometimes I'm also a little sluggish and I need extra care on these difficult tasks.

Here's what my problem is at that point.

Say I start the match on ys.

I know i can not make reads so I focus on buffered de-synces.

I ice block ice block and cover Neary every option and look for a free grab if they ran into it on the ground or an upair if they ran into the one on the platform.

Now this is where I struggle to pick to be reactive, proactive, look for habbits, train them, watch nana, and fine tuned spacing or zoning.

I often take a few of those mental roles. Like I may watch nana, be proactive, and hold an area. But i offen miss out on spacing of my moves and watching them for anything outside of basic options and then I start to get predictable.

I can't just keep nana in the back of my mind all the time, there are times when I really need to watch her details when I'm recovering or when people are trying to gimp her. Like how much stun she'll be in and her 2nd jump or ledge options.

My question is, is there a better way to shift my focus or should I relearn my basic mirco game and give up my marco like de-synce zoning.

I think that you should be good at what you already know before going on to new things. I know IC's are a very difficult character to master, so all I can really say is that it just takes some time.

Maybe you should take things one at a time, like first try and focus on aspect 1 out of 5. Then when you are good at it, try for aspect 2 out of 5, then 1 AND 2 out of 5. I don't know if what I'm saying makes sense so sorry lol :mad088:

Been maining ice climbers on and off since 07.

Just when You're trying to be reactive with one and proactive with the the other. Ways of thinking cross over each sometimes

I had to reread the intro a few times to even get what you were asking. Out of my league, sorry.
