How do you guys feel about PM and Melee as compared to each other? The biggest question I have is, do you feel like practicing online on PM will help someone with their Melee play?

Due to the accessibility of anyone when playing PM online, it makes it easier for people across the country to practice with each other, therefore the best players from the west coast could practice with the best players from the east coast.

But the question is, do skills in PM translate over to Melee?

yes. skills is melee/PM transfer over to the other one. this is because many of the PM characters that were in melee function the same way that they did in melee, just with some buffs in place, depending on who youre talking about. most of the mechanics also work the same, or very similarly to melee. To somebody relatively new, or almost proficient in either game, you would not notice a difference with any of the mechanics. Differences come from things like shield pushback, the presence of b-reversing and DACUSing, how pivots function, and short hops being one frame harder to perform in melee. Theres also other things like throw release points still being different from melee in some characters cases.

Like i said though, unless you are proficient enough in the game, you would not recognize a difference. if you play melee marth, your skills will translate directly into PM marth. if you play melee bowser, your can do everything the same with PM bowser, plus some more, because his base, melee moveset has been considerably buffed. the only thing you have to consider is the addition of brawl characters, and how certain melee characters were given buffs to their tools. overall, the game play engine, and how combos and movement options feel are the same as melee though.

I've played PM so much that when I go back to melee I pull off combos that I normally wouldn't of done. It's like PM is a hyperbolic time chamber

I do better as Luigi in Melee, although in PM Luigi is way better in general.

I feel like the one-frame momentum delay really messes everything up whenever I switch from PM to Melee. I don't own Melee and I only get to play it from time to time with others, but movement in general feels off. My PM Fox, who can do all the Fox tech and stuff, didn't transfer at all to Melee. Short hops, wavedashes, dashing in general, felt very different. On the other hand, the difference is hardly noticeable with Ganon or Sheik. It really depends on who you're playing.

IMO, Melee to PM works way better than PM to Melee.
