A short-hop button and c-stick tilts would . . .

I was searching for a thread on this and could not find one. Also, does PM already have this? I haven't played it much.

Idea: Optional short-hop button and c-stick tilt attacks. Opinions?

I appreciate how the classic controller configurations from Melee make it a really hardcore game to master, and that has never steered me away. However, sometimes I think maybe more people would play if they could choose configurations that made advanced techniques a little easier. Personally I think the SHFFL would be easier with a short-hop button and for the longest time tilts were mostly done by accident for me.

Would it be possible to add controller configuration to Project M? Maybe to map X and Y, one as jump and the other as short-hop. Also I would prefer on the ground to have the c-stick do tilts instead of smashes (i love it for aerials though).

I guess up and down tilts are easy enough if you hold up or down as you land, they are hard if you start on the ground though. I like to see all tilts c-stick executable.

Also please share your thoughts on a short-hop button.

Takes away the learning curve, or rather, muscle memory from learning the timing for a short hop. Sounds counter-productive.

One of the reasons why I normally don't touch other fighting games in favor of smash is that you don't have to jump through hoops to use attacks. Even though I probably wouldn't use the short-hop button much, I'd love to see an available tilt option on the C-Stick. I'll support almost anything that makes the controls more accessible.

Shorthopping existed even in the old Super Mario Bros, it´s an easy technique to learn. Tilting however requires a bit more practice, but I´m actually fine the way they are. As long as you play the game, you get used to doing these things in time. :)

Shorthopping was decided after you entered the air in SMB, though. There were no jumpstart frames, and there were more then 2 heights.

I wonder why Sakurai made it that way? It doesn't seem like his style to take an easy, familiar thing and make it more difficult and obscure.

Scew a shorthop button, give me a fullhop button that I can press for the length of a shorthop and still do a fullhop.

A shorthop button is an awesome idea. I wouldn't have to worry about holding the button down too long, it's one of my biggest issues.
