I had never seen him in a tournament before CEO 2015 and he is clearly someone to keep an eye on. I hope he didn't get too discouraged by his TWO heartbreakers in the tournament. Definitely a new Plup fan after Saturday/Sunday.

Edit: Spacies slayer as it beating the spacies (with Shiek)

Plup switched to spacies? I thought he switched to Shiek after tragically leaving Samus behind.

No he plays Shiek. He took both Mango's Fox and Leffen's Fox to the final hit of the 5th match and lost. I mean "spacies slayer" as in someone to finally beat fox's consistently. It will be an amazing thing for this game if he can start to do it.

OH! I misread "Spacies Slayer" as "Spacies Player". My B.

A very standard boring Sheik that happens to have a great reaction time and reads. *Yawn*

Both Shroomed and Plup both are pretty much carbon copies of M2K, but with 80% less shino stalling and needle confirms. Anyways Plup had been slaying spacies with Samus long before (he beat Leffen while still maining Samus). CEO for me was extremely underwhelming since Mango and HBox were obviously not playing well at all and M2K wasn't even there.

M2K and PP. I feel like PP would've stood a chance of winning if he came, but he has a life and doesn't come to as many tournaments as he used to because he has his priorities straight.

I would rather have a "boring" shiek in the top players than 800 Fox mains and one puff. Diversity makes this game much more fun to watch. I like Fox, but he is played way too much for my tastes.

Top 5 are a duo Marth/Falco main (PP), a Fox main who pulls out his Peach often (Armada), a Shiek with a Marth secondary (M2K), a Fox who uses Falco against Fox and Falcon for style (Mang0), and a Puff (HBox). More diverse than 800 Foxes.

The top is quite diverse in playstyle as well when you tthink about it. Also, I was pretty sure that Marth was M2k's main. It's really hard to tell. When I played him, he used fox only.

I know M2K used to main Marth, but I've seen a lot more of his Shiek recently. He sort of just plays everyone.

Plup was on fire this weekend and honestly, that set against Mango was in his hands.

Him and Shroomed in particular are gonna be part of whatever we call the new Gods in the next year along with two of the old Gods PP and Armada as well as Leffen.

I only had a lot of fun watching some of plups and wizzys matches along with the finals for singles at ceo. Pretty bad performance from some of the better players.

to be 100% honest i have no idea how anyone could consider plup's sheik boring if they've seriously watched what he's doing. that's just me lol. he's easily one of the most exciting sheiks i've ever seen play. shame about pokemon stadium but i feel like he got antsy. the transformations played a significant role but he did make a few mistakes near the end that can't be underestimated. he should have won both, but he just didn't clutch it out. really looking forward to seeing more of him after ceo and watching him take a few sets off hbox, though.

Forgive me but what exactly is a spacies?
spacies are fox and falco.

From what I saw, I wouldn't call Plup "boring". You have to play a little lame when going up against a top Fox with Sheik and Plup seemed to have a nice balance of defence and offence. He's definitely a lot more entertaining than M2K's Sheik (not sure about Shroomed).

And yes, Sheik is pretty much M2K's main at this point. He only really goes Marth against the top Fox/Falco players and even then he'll only do it if he can't beat them with his Sheik. His Fox only comes out to beat the occasional floaty, particularly Jigglepuff.

Doubt he'll be pullin out Fox often now tho, with his hand issues :S

Plus was definitely hype, he just needed to puh a bit further, make less mistakes towards the end. He definitely seems to have a grasp at what it takes to beat spacies tho.

To be completely honest, I don't see Plups results at CEO as much of an indicator for anything besides the clear fact that he has potential which should never have been in question imo. This is especially because Leffen took the tournament quite convincingly over Armada, 3-0d Shroomed, and according to bracket also beat Plup preceding that. The people are basing most of the praise on is Plup v. Mango which honestly doesn't mean much to me as a one-off seeing as Mango also got 2-0d in winners bracket by Shroomed who was later 3-0d by Leffen. I'm just saying, thus far such predictions are pretty much only being thrown around because the believed G.O.A.T. was going out like a buster left and right again. The thing is that all of it ignores that the other two big Fox mains in residence did just fine overall until they finally went against each other. Not to mention that even at this point, both Fox and Shiek players have a long way to go in reaching their respective pinnacles. Shiek is a ton better in theory than I've seen done in tournament in regards to those tech chases. The same goes for Fox.

Really, I don't think threads like this are really a good idea at all because of how quickly things change and how much the player element and everything that comes with that effects the game. Basically, a Sheik vs a Fox isn't the same thing as Sheik beating Fox in general or even any other Sheik beating any other Fox in specific instances.

Plup has been an absolute beast for years, from undisputed #1 Samus main ever to a sheik capable of beating anyone in the world with less than a year's focus. He's not stopping any time soon.
