I hate it. I hate it so much. I hate the timing of the controls being desynchronized (even if only a little) from the visual information of the character animations. I hate feeling completely helpless as higher level opponents seemingly buffer almost every input and perform action after action with virtually no delay and I can't keep up. I hate constantly failing to punish whiffs because the opponent buffered shield or spot dodge during their attack animation. And I hate how often I accidentally buffer inputs like air dodge that lead to me losing stocks. Despite being fully aware of the buffer system and how it works, I can't get my brain and fingers to consistently act on that knowledge and actually buffer inputs as much as I should and avoid buffering inputs that I shouldn't.

No one is ever going to convince me that SSBU's buffer system is a good game mechanic. It's not. It's garbage. But it's in the game, and I have to work with it if I'm going to get better so please help me. Please help me overcome this rubbish game mechanic so I can improve.

I would say to practice clean inputs and get better used to your character’s mobility. It’s important to emulate scenarios where you would need them most. It’s all a matter of muscle memory.
