Sorry guys but check a geography book and you'll see that NORTH america is Canada, USA AND Mexico. I hate when they say we're central america, ugh.
Just make it easier and call everything below the US Latinamerica. That name would be geographically correct for a change :)

Pruebas:
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/América_del_Norte

http://images.google.com.mx/images?q=north+america&hl=es&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title

Exacto, Canada, EUA Y MEXICO JUNTOS.

Sera verdad???

http://www.ensayistas.org/identidad/contenido/geografia/Centro-America.gif

http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/americas/central_america_ref02.jpg

Lo mismo.

Mira esto tambien:

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/América_Central

http://www.google.com.pr/search?hl=es&q=centro+america&btnG=Buscar&lr=

Informate bien porfavor.

North America is a continent, not a country. Canada, the U.S.A., and Mexico are the 3 major countries that make up the continent of North America. This is basic geographical knowledge that most people in the occident should already know.

I had spoken to the admins a while back about renaming this forum to Latin America, but it was pretty much ignored. I suggest sending a PM to an admin with your request, instead of posting it in a forum they don't even look at.

North America is a sub-continent, the whole continent is still America (even though the USA has sort of appropiated of the name lol) but yeah I get your point. I'll do that as soon as I know who Is the person who I should rely the messaeg to. Maybe Ill look into it later when I have the time in a non Friday night.

And thanks, Lord HDL!

Well I'd really prefer to avoid unnecessary nitpicking, but depending on where you live and what you believe in, there can be anywhere between 4-7 continents. I go with these 7:

Asia
Australia
Europe
Africa
Antarctica
North America
South America

The majority of people generally follow that lineup.

Your belief falls into one of the other lineups depicted by the chart here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent

I found it funny how we went so off topic with this thread but yeah that thinking of even 7 continents is ok (allthough I still think that this division of America into 2 is more for reasons of convienence since its such a big piece of land rather than an official split of a continent into 2).
I do think you might have it plain wrong on one thing though, buddy. Calling Oceania (or Oceanic or whatever the name is in english) Australia for all those pieces of land as a whole is sure a way to piss more than one person from New Zealand lol.

AAAAAAAnyways, Ill send that PM to an admin so they can change this topic to Latin America.

Renaming this section to Latinoamérica would leave out some countries. Latin America refers specifically to countries in the Americas where Spanish, Portuguese, and sometimes French are the dominant languages. So that leaves out Surinam, Jamaica, the Bahamas, etc. Clearly, Mexico is not geographically part of Central America, as it sits on the North American plate, whereas the countries of Central America sit on the Caribbean plate. However, I think for the sake of ease of use for Smashboards it's easy enough to lump Mexico in because it fits linguistically, if not necessarily geographically.

The bulk of South America sits on the South American plate (with the part west of the Andes on the Nazca plate), which would suggest that the Americas are in fact not just one big piece of land, but a couple pieces that have been pushed together over time.

So can't we just leave this as Central and South America?

But seriously haw many are from surinam or bahamas i think we must follow the will of the majority and most the people around this section speak a romance language.

Dude, when the first credible person that hails from a country like Surinam or the Guadalupe islands we'll talk about leaving this board as Central and South America.

This is about naming stuff after what people call them. I live in Mexico and everyone calls everything below the southern border of the United States Latinamerica and that's that. May not be 100% correct because it would leave out, with all due respect, a handful of island countries that speak something else that isn't a romance tongue. Leaving out a more participative and important country (Im talking only videogame-wise obviously) like Mexico that has 110 million people and is the most important videogame market in the American continent after USA and Canada is dumber than naming something when "only 1" big coutnry would be out of place instead of leaving Surinam and Jamaica out.

I still havent mailed the Administrator because I haven't cared THAT much about this subject but Im here debating again because frankly, in my opinion, I just had to say something because there's stuff wrong in your arguments :)

It really doesn't matter too much for me either. I'm in Chile, so that gets included either way. I was just trying to point out a different viewpoint for the sake of making the thread a little more interesting.
