We all know CRT's have no response time leading to no lag when playing.

But when people play use netplay or 20XX, don't they have to use a monitor?

So my question is, if i use my monitor (2ms response time) will i notice the difference between my CRT?

You can load 20XX through homebrew on a softmodded wii (super easy and cheaper than buying a gc with melee)

When using netplay you will have lag through both the monitor and the connection as you need to play through dolphin.

Fizzy did some research on using monitors, here are his first and second article on that:
1. http://www.meleeitonme.com/this-tv-lags-a-guide-on-input-and-display-lag/
2. https://m.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/26got5/quick_followup_to_miom_lag_article/
From his article I get that if you use (a wii +) the Sewell Wii to HDMI converter and connect to your monitor that way, you should have unnoticeable amounts of lag.

Still, the cheapest, visually best and lag free solution would be to get a softmodded wii with 20XX(install homebrew, load the ISO from an SD card via Nintendont) and connect it to a CRT Monitor using the Wii's component cable and a component->VGA converter.

You mean on your PC?
Not sure about that, there are many things that come together here, the USB adapter for you GC controller(should be minimal if you use the official one) , perhaps the graphic card (don't know whether this makes a difference; even if it does, I would guess as you'd need a pretty good one anyways to play smoothly), and your Monitor. Maybe you'll need some special settings for your monitor like game mode or sth. like that. But I'm not the one to be asked.

If you wanna be sure to minimize lag, use a CRT Monitor for your PC. You should be able to get them for nearly no money.
