So I've been on the grind in Melee lately BUT Street Fighter V came out. Can you pull off getting good at Street Fighter 5 while still grinding Melee and going to tournaments? Will Street Fighter mess me up in Melee at all (though I've heard it actually helps a decent amount)? I'm not planning on putting too much time into SFV before I get my stick but I still am afraid of falling off from Melee.

I struggle with this too, I just play one game at a time to give it my full time and dedication. Melee is a game I play more for fun, but SF is where the salt and rage come out. I think you should play one casually and put more time into the one you take more seriously.

Unless you get to high local level (operationally defined as like placing top 8 or top 25% more than half of the time at local tournaments), the skill overlap between SF and Melee is pretty good. In my experience, 1 of my biggest boosts in Melee came from playing 3S and AE online actively. It teaches explicit prediction. I strongly recommend playing both, even if it's only SF5 online, Melee locally
