Sounds like a glitch.
They probably have a way to determine if something is spawned client side or server side, but right at the start it may be wonky, so it thinks you've spawned the turnip client side.
Then it boots you because it thinks you're cheating.

Really, Nintendo should disable the item sensor or whatever until they can fix it, though.
