Platform Play?

Hey guys new player to competitive play and i got a question I am awful with platform play. I don't know if its something about them or what but I cant play effectively with anyone. I was wondering if you guys have any tips or tricks to help step up my game on platforms.

Its really mostly character dependent if you are gonna use the platforms to the full power as some characters utilise them better than others, but in general platforms are good for: Tech chasing and wavelanding on.
For instance, if a marth upthrows you onto a platform on yoshi's story, he can uptilt and cover every tech option in certain positions.
And say you are marth and you have just launched someone to the top of battlefield, you can double jump to a platform and waveland onto it letting you hit that tipper fsmash.

The best way to use them is to force a knockdown on your opponent on a platform, such as Marth uthrow from below, and use a move that covers a lot of the platform when they try to get up. Marth Fmash/Utilt, Ganondorf/Falcon Uair, etc.

Knocking your opponent on a platform then tech reading them is really helpful. If you mean platform play for going onto platforms for one, make sure you waveland. It allows you to get around platforms really fast. Use platforms for mixing up approaches, continuing combos, and getting around projectiles. Depending on your character you can do cool things like waveland/run off platform to falling aerial attacks which is what I like to do a lot.

Working on wavelanding platforms is a must. It really benefits mobility and opens up options of attacks.
