So i have been playing melee competitively now for around a year. I play netplay very often but have probably played around 1000 hours just with my roommates since i started. I have been trying really hard to get better lately, like reading things about Marth(Main) and applying a lot of the things i learn into my own game. I have been doing this for a while now and i just feel like i am not getting better. I try to adapt to my opponent, but i have a hard time, and overall i think i am putting in a lot of work but it isnt helping me too much. Is there anything i can do/ look out for to help me get over this plateau? Sorry for the vague question.

Don't get emotional. Stay logical

"Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity. Is. Doing the exact. Same. ****ing thing. Over and over and over and over and over and over again. Excepting **** to change. That is crazy" -Vaas Montenegro, Far Cry 3

Other players are improving too, not just you

You will improve fastest when you start, usually, because everything is new to learn. You've learned a lot, so now there is less

What I did was go to a tournament and lose, and then I had all this new stuff to think about (why I lost). When I'm playing with people I play a lot, every time I do something I know was bad I make a mental note of it, or every time I get hit I briefly think about why I get hit. If you're not thinking though it will be hard to improve quickly once you're mechanically used to the game.
