(Note: I tried to use Search to see if there was already a thread for this, but Search seems kind of broken at the moment...So I looked through the more recent threads (the recent four pages) and didn't see anything specific to this, so yeah...)

Yessiree! After watching alot of tournaments online for Meleeover the years, I kinda want get in on that action, but in Brawl. But I need to ask some questions specific to the game really quick first.

My Main Characters: I'm so far the best with characters that were considered high-tier in Melee, like Fox and Falco, but I'm also really good with some lower tier characters, like Kirby and Captain Falcon. However, the character I want to primarily main is King Dedede. I've started seriously practicing with him, and I almost have his timing downpat.

Why am I trying to main King Dedede? Simple.

Because from what I've read about tiers, the camps are really, REALLY divided on Dedede. He's either really good or really bad to alot of Smashers. To me, he's kind of like Brawl's...Brawl's Zangief. He's slow, clunky and huge. He has so much sheer power though...If someone would take the time to learn his mechanics and timing, he'd be an unstoppable tank! He wouldn't even require Advanced Tech.! All he'd have to really do is get close and start wailing on you, grabbing and throwing, F-Bing, then while he's got you on the ground F-Smash you out of the level! Heck, his ineptitude in speed could probably have an advantage somewhere along the line too! I'm wanting practice with him mainly, because of this (so far) untapped potential.

Now for the questions about the rules...

1. I prefer the Wiimote+Nunchuk controller figuration (not really out of choice, my GC controller is broken for fighting games) in Brawl. From what I've heard, not very many people like this and want tourneys to be forced-GC, and I'm worried about that. I could play with a GC controller I guess, but I'm practicing with the +Nunchuk configuration and forced-GC would possibly hinder me. Should I try to get a new GC controller to practice with? I mean, they wouldn't really force-GC in a Wii game for a tournament, would they? :urg:

2. I've heard of character bannings in Melee for some reasons or another, and I fear that King Dedede would end up with the same fate. I mean, he could be really powerful in the right hands, and that could be a factor for a ban. His F-Smash is also the most powerful non-special move in the game, that could be another factor. I'm thinking on practicing with another, less-likely-to-get-banned character alongside Dedede (like Falco), but I'd really like to main as the big guy. What do you guys think the chances are of Dedede getting banned?

3. I've taken notice of a picture of the stage select in Brawl. In this picture, there's 5 out of 31 stages that aren't banned (13/31 if you include teams). That's okay I guess...I mean, I enjoy quite a bit of the cleared stages, but I also find alot of the banned stages to be hilarious or fun as well (like WWI for instance. DON'T MOVE! *ticktockticktockticktock* OKAY!). I could probably understand why these stages were banned (that whole "interactivity" thing), but there's one in paticular I don't really get (the Bridge of Eldin stage). I was in the line of thinking that the BoE stage would've been near-perfect for tourneys (the only "imperfection" being the sequence I'm about to mention). Is the sequence where you have to jump and avoid the bomb the reason it was banned?

And...I think that's it. I'm sure I'll have more questions later on, but I think this covers it for now. Thank you guys in advance for reading this and taking the time to answer, it's much appreciated! :D

people won't ban wiimote/nunchuk because of spite or anything - they'll ban them because of the logistical issues of having a room full of wiis and constant resyncing, interference, etc.

i'm iffy on having classic controllers as well (you could just assign wiimotes to wiis and if people want classics, just hook them up) because of interference (still) and also the fact that wiimotes are hard to secure and easy to steal =\

i doubt there will be a community-wide decision on this, it will likely vary tournament-to-tournament because gameplay-wise, there's no reason to ban it

he won't be banned for being too good (especially not for his fsmash LOL) - the issue with ddd right now is how much his CG affects the game, but i personally don't believe it to be anywhere near strong enough to warrant banning the character (i'm open to banning the in-place chaingrab he has on certain chars though, depending on how that affects competitive play)

if i'm not mistaken, BoE has walkoff edges, which has long been taboo in melee largely because of fox's waveshine, but i don't know the true reasoning behind maintaining that stance in brawl (maybe ddd's CG ruins it too -_-)
