ive seen vids of falcons like SS that pivot fsmashes. how do you do this? is it similar to doing usmash out of dashing?

pivoting fsmashes

You can think of it that way, but you have a much easier time timing upsmashes since they are Jump canceled giving you more frames to work with before having to upsmash. Pivoting is done by doing a move during the one frame of standing in a dash dance. So for a smash you have 2 options.
You can dash dance then as soon as you jam the control stick in one direction hit A too. If you do it enough times you should be able to get it and find the timing somewhat.
You can also dashdance and hit the see c-stick during the pivot as well. I find that dashing forward, dashing back, c-sticking forward is easier to time.
