Hello guys, I don't know if this has been found out yet but I searched around for a while and saw no topic regarding this. (Please state if this has been found out before and link it, not trying to steal credit from anyone)
So I was fooling around the other day with Falcon, dashing around using RAR B-airs and somehow it one of these B-airs was converted into a Pivot Upsmash due to fast inputs. After testing it more, you can actually cancel the Pivot jump into an Upsmash. It is similar to the Jump-cancel Upsmash, however, the jump is merely pivoted.
This is useful for mixing up your killing options, running past your opponents and catching them offguard with a Pivot Upsmash, or baiting them to close in on you and use the run away>Pivot Upsmash as a punish.
Assuming you are running leftwards and want to perform an Upsmash on the righthand side. The inputs are as following:
1. Dash
2. Hold the analog stick briefly rightwards (the opposite side of where you're dashing to)
You can then choose from the following input options depending on what's more convenient in your opinion.
3A. Press X/Y then immediately followed by an Upsmash (C-stick Upwards)
3B. Assuming you are holding the analog stick rightwards (from input#2): Move the analog stick upwards using a quarter circle motion (Rotate the analog stick from the righthand side to the upward direction).
4B. Press and hold A when the analog stick reaches the upward direction.
Add anything that might contribute to this topic, hope it helped.
