Alright! Before we get into specifics for this week, I'll be announcing what that "special surprise" is- a tournament! This tournament will be every 5 tournaments on the 5s (Pinnacle V, X etc.) It will be a cumulative championship of the last 5 weeks, and only 8 will qualify based on record, (plus you get a point just for every week you participated) so this week is your last chance to qualify for Pinnacle V! Winners of these will get something we can't announce yet. In addition, Pinnacle X, with enough participants in the weeks leading up to it, could offer prizes! Details will follow if this proves to be a real possibility.
A list of who would qualify if the event was this weekend instead of next:
WT
JHamron
Locke_06
xffixbmlx
ZSR
illuminati_eye
RMP7
Kidodeath
Also, if you are new to Pinnacle, it's a weekly online Smash 3DS tournament (could turn into Wii U though later on) that takes place on Saturdays which aims to gather dedicated regulars. Rules are below. And if you are an event veteran, read the rules anyway! There are some changes, notably the one that deals with double blind picks.
3 stock, 8 minute, 2/3 except for semis and finals which are 3/5, no customs whatsoever.
Starters: FD, Battlefield, Yoshi's Island. Counterpick: Prism Tower. Striking is 1-1-play, with 1 ban for counterpicking. First match, opponents declare their characters and only if necessary do a double blind, others are declared with loser of the previous match picking character second (as in the winner declares first and then is locked). Only original FD for first match, banning or striking FD gets rid of all FDs, but if not banned, counterpicker may choose the FD.
The event that a match disconnects, each player will start out with the stocks (and, if it can be remembered, the percents) that they had before.
Signing up: I am hosting a signup page on the challonge page. You need to sign up as your SmashBoards name + your friend code. Failure to include friend code will result in disqualification! Don't sign up until you're sure you can participate. In addition, participants can report their own scores! Don't abuse this feature or you will be DQ'd, banned from future events, reported on SmashBoards, and you will cause us to have to go back to the far less convenient method of reporting scores to me via a hectic irc. It's worked out for us fine in 2 and 3, but I still feel the need to post the disclaimers.
#Pinnacle is an irc channel that I created for matchmaking and general chatting, but please try to keep it clean. Avoid crowding the chat with messages while opponents are communicating about tournament matches. Also, don't forget to take advantage of "query", a mode within irc where you can talk to a single other person, instead of trying to talk at the same time as everybody else on the main chat. You can find it by clicking on someone on the right sidebar.
Notice! So that I can make sure you are participating, please check in on the bracket between 1:30 and 2:30, and be on the irc by 2:30 so we can get it started on time!
This week's event: Saturday, November 8th at 2:30 PM EST (don't forget we're back to standard time!). click here for bracket/signups.
If you would like the time changed, PLEASE post here and we'll see who would like/be okay with your suggestion.
