When Pikachu makes an appearance in a video game (take Hey You, Pikachu; or Pokemon Puzzle League for example), he always acts about the same. Cute, happy, and only somewhat of a threat, if at all. He's a well known mascot of the series, and he is made to appeal to the kids.

COULD Sakurai have taken the same route when including him in the SSE? Yes. He COULD have made him the basic rodent-in-distress, and allow Pokemon Trainer to steal the spotlight in an attempt to save his beloved Pikachu from the clutches of the Ancient Minister.

But what did Sakurai do? He made Pikachu FREAKING. COOL.
This Pikachu is PISSED OFF at the bad guys. In almost every scene with an enemy, he looks 100% GENUINELY PISSED at whoever is messing with him. (watch the videos for more details on why and how he looks/acts)

This is one of my favorite parts of SSE. Angry Pikachu. Frying-Ridley-out-of-the-Sky Pikachu.

Does anyone else agree with me?

I wouldn't say that Pikachu looked pissed off at the bad guys so much as battle ready. Crouched on all fours with his cheeks sparking and his tail in the air. He's still a cute little badass though. :D Especially when he shocks Ridley out of the air to save Samus's ***. That was Pikachu's crowning moment! That's why the Pikachu/Samus team up was one of my favorite character combos in SSE.

My favorite team up was actually Pokemon Trainer and Lucas. Their part of the story was very emotional for me. Lucas loses a friend and is all alone and scared when he bumps into someone that helps him and is also searching for something, then later Lucas becomes the silent hero and protects Pokemon Trainer when they're sent falling from the sky...

Aw, I like Lucas and Pokemon Trainer too. For the same reasons. It's so cute how they become friends and help each other. <3 I wish Lucas had gotten to save Ness though. At least he did get to kick Wario's butt.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about.... (I don't even know what SSE stands for)

But, after reading some of your posts, this would lead me to believe that: Brawl actually has a storyline? O.O

Wow! That surprises me!

Because Melee didn't really have a storyline, not even the Adventure mode. Adventure was pretty similar to Classic mode, I thought (only longer and better, in my opinion). ^^
