I just got back into playing pikachu from melee and i wanted to know what would be the best/ most popular controller set up for a QAC and mainly aerials pikachu player? Im asking this because right now im jumping with the control stick and using the B botton for special attacks and im finding im too slow using these.

i use the original setup. a lot of people play differently. its just however u feel comfortable dude. i am used to using the c-stick as my smashes. ive been playing for a long long time so my finger speed is no prob. its all about feel dude. b-sticking is very popular due to wavebouncing though.

Can you do a dash up-smash without the c-stick? It's one of my favorite ways to KO.

Just follow the grime...
thanks a bunch... also should i jump w/x and y of the control stick
DEFINATELY X and Y if you are capable of reteaching yourself jumping. It is much better. Use Y, have x as a secondary grab, and remove tap jump to make U-tilting MUCH easier. Personaly, I don't Bstick, I stick to traditional smash attacks.

EDIT: DEFINATELY DEFINATELY DEFINATELY don't Bstick, it actualy hurts airials like Bair with forward momentum or Fairs with backwords momentum. AND you can't do a running Usmash which is teh bomb. Trust me, go with the controls I suggested dude.

I use default settings with tap jump off and I jump with x. Pikachu isn't that great a wave bouncer since it's still easy to control thunder the way you want and while it MIGHT be easier to QAC, a day or two of practicing shouldn't be too hard to get used to it anyways. Set the controls to however you feel comfortable, instead of setting it just so you can do a maneuver.

tap jump off

y is set to grab

jump with X

allows a running up smash and I do tend to d-smash alot so the c-stick helps with that quickness. I haven't had a problem with QAC or anything really with this setup.

Classic Controller, ZL set to jump, Tap Jump off, regular C-stick.

The configuration of the classic controller's jump and attack buttons are great for jumping and attacking quickly. A quick down smash is always needed, and I'm fast enough on the control stick to reverse my momentum WITHOUT B-Sticking.

i tried turning off tap jump but i kept messing up the QAC>QAC>etc... if you catch my drift. everything on my controller is default. though i am considering tuning my l into something b/c i never use it. might be useful as a b special or something.

i prefer original set up with tap jump off. i QAC just fine but i find myself messing up ~10% of the time. you know, the awkward bounce after landing the quick attack without the cancel...

I stick with the default. utilt isn't that hard, but it takes practice.

Yeah he did. But Anther wasn't being conceded or anything.
dictionary.com

Concede

–verb (used with object)
1. to acknowledge as true, just, or proper; admit: He finally conceded that she was right.
2. to acknowledge (an opponent's victory, score, etc.) before it is officially established: to concede an election before all the votes are counted.
3. to grant as a right or privilege; yield: to concede a longer vacation for all employees.
–verb (used without object)
4. to make concession; yield; admit: She was so persistent that I conceded at last.

I'm not sure which definition you thought I was using or, in your case, which one you were using.

I think you're thinking of conceit

He meant conceited.

There is a very easy way to QAC with tap jump off. Make one of your shield buttons special. The timing for jumping out of the quick attack is a lot easier when you don't have to worry about sliding your thumb from B to X. I just can't stand tap jump, I rely too much on up-tilts. I have other buttons switched around as well, but they aren't nearly as essential. I have Y set to grab and Z set to jump to make short-hopped Dairs easier (C-stick down and Z short-hop at about the same time), but I mostly use X to jump otherwise. If you use Y to jump normally you could probably make X grab instead...

By the way, I'm thinking of trading over to a classic controller because of the extra button options (and my gamecube cord is frayed...). Does anyone have any experiencing switching from one to the other?

the problem with tap jump for me is i like to use utilt alot on the bigger guys to follow up with combos. I find it his best combo starter and it is good in combos too.

the only thing with turning the z into a jump for me would be when i do the running dash cancel into an usmash. for me it goes run>down on the c-stick> up+z. other than that i like the idea of turning a shield button into a special. i never use L plus i never use z other than the dash cancel(i use R+A to grab) so i think i may give this a try.

As much as I loathe tap jump I might have to turn it back on, because it makes QAC>QAC>QAC... SOOOOO much easier. I also have to decide what to turn L into, because I used to have it on Jump, but I don't know if that would be the best setup for Pika.

Yeah. I use the same set up as rollerking. I think it makes things really easy. You just have to be quick with the QAC (lol). Anyways, I would suggest this set up.

Regular set up is the best since you have tap jump on and can QAC easily. The only thing I would change is X to grab, but that takes time to get used to.
