Hi guys, I'm new to the online smash community, been playing for about a month now on keyboard and think it's about time to get an adapter. My main concern is using it for smash and I want to be able to do 4 player emulator play with my irl friends as well.

Has anybody bought either of these two adapters and could tell me a little more about them or recommend one? If I plug two in will I be able to use 4 controllers with my computer with no problems?

Option 2

I also am buying a controller on ebay that may be 3rd party. Anybody know if it works with that?

the only widely accepted controllers are the first party generic Nintendo controller, and the Hori Mini Pad, which was also licensed by Nintendo. Basically no Nintendo=don't buy it is my rule of thumb for smash controllers

i have option two and it works great for online play. Ive never tried multiplayer irl with it but i have read reviews that say port two doesn't work but idk for sure.

the joystick on most 3rd party controllers makes it very hard to tilt or run or do anything really that requires a light touch i strongly recommend against getting one

Be careful though:

Just received the raphnet adapter and the gamecube port is broken. If I shake it I can hear a small piece flying freely. How to waste 40$...
Personally I have never had trouble with the mayflash. And the fact there are two ports is great.

there is slight lag when jumping with the mayflash, moreso than other adapters or controllers because the c buttons are mapped as axes (like a second joystick). the boom adapter has inferior range/deadzone hardware for control stick reading as well.

i played on a boom adapter for ~2 years and could tell when i used a mayflash that jumping was weird, as well as the better joystick read.

all three of these mentioned adapters are great vs a non-n64 controller(i own and have tried playing on a wired 360 controller/ps3 controller/ps2 controller +adapter...and even a gamecube controller adapter via magic joy box 3-in-1 and now recently raphnet)

raphnet adapter is besssstt.

....console is best tho :p

slice open the heat shrink tubing and see if its just a loose wire or trace, it may be a simple repair. sucks about the potential shipping damages tho.
