Before you flame like crazy about how stupid he is, think about it. Phoenix Wright is a lead character from a fairly popular series of games that would be able to have a unique fighting style, and represents the style of games the DS carries. Smash Bros. has no other characters like him, and while he doesn't fight, neither did some other Smash characters before they joined the series. There have been other characters who had never been rendered in 3D before, and there have been other characters who were portable only. So I think it's fair to say he meets the criteria for being a Smasher.
But since I also know it's highly unlikely, I would like to hope he'll be a support character, although please feel free to make movelists.
He would appear, point out his finger and shout, "OBJECTION!" while it flashed on the screen as it does in the series. All other smashers would be temporarily frozen in place and you would be able to inflict damage or grab that essential item.
However, you couldn't send them flying or even move them, just damage them.
Since Ike assumes this status after his Aether move, it's not impossible for this to happen.
So what do you think?
I say, go for it Sakurai!
