After quick responses to my unintelligent original idea, I've come up with a replacement idea:

Petition for a demo disc.
Perhaps it can be released along with a game coming out for the Wii sometime over the summer, such as Battle Revolution or Metroid Prime 3.
Or maybe it can just be a separate disc all together, at a reasonable price ($5-$15)

Replacement ideas open for discussion, as well.

-----------------

I propose that the demo be like so:

Only multiplayer (no online play) (timed match or stock choosable)
Only Battlefield
Only released items (item switch on or off included) (no smash orb)
Only released characters

What is the worst that can happen? The petition be denied? There's no con to the futility of this. :D

Discuss:
Demo content
Possible ways of producing the demo
Ideas around an internet petition

Ima sign the things that you have put in sounds good and that would probably be the only thing that we could get.

No.

(I'm supposed to make this longer because it says my response is too short, but "no" suffices...)

While I would love to see a demo, it's really unrealistic.

Unless we're getting a Hard Drive attachment prior to SSBB release, I just can't see this happening. That's how Halo 3 was able to have a beta. The Wii just doesn't have the internal storage capacity to download even a limited demo of a Wii game and still function properly - and I don't think the firmware allows running games off of Flash memory (Which would be VERY slow for any significant amount of data - which might not be a problem for a small VC game, but for SSBB?).

In other words, it's irrelevant whether they want to give us a demo or not - I doubt they realistically can.

QFT

I apologize for the thread and uninformed post.
I was unaware that the Wii's storage was flash memory. o_o /stupid

Close thread.

Replacement Idea.

Lol, you give up that quickly? I thought you would actually come up with a replacement idea but whatever.
Well I did, while I was working on an art commission.

Any sort of replacement idea would involve them releasing it on a disc. o_o
Petition for a promotional disc?
I'd do it.
o_O I'd do much of anything to get a demo, really.

However, it's less likely that they'd do something of the sort.
What would they release the disc with, if they wouldn't release it separately?
Pokemon Battle Revolution?
Or maybe MP3, when it comes out in August? That'd give them time to get the **** straight.
Or maybe they'll tell us they'll be releasing the demo discs a week after E3, at $10 each, to any video game retailer (Nintendo World Store, Gamestop/EBGames, Toys R' Us, etc.)

Mark me as signing this petition! This would be a great idea and help combat the Halo 3 demo. Just make it on the shop channel and have it be a small demo, it shouldn't take up a lot of memory if only so little is included. I would say have:

-8 Playable characters, have 6 regulars and 2 new ones so people can try them out. Such as Mario, Link, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Samus, Wario, and Snake.
-Two basic levels, such as Battlefield and a "Final Destination" level.
-Selection of like 10 or so items, with items on or off, no in depth choosing.
-Stock or time matches.
-Only multiplayer (offline) up to 4 player, with a choice of cpu players.

Thanks for the constructive post.
I like your ideas for demo content. :3

Though, as it's been stated, the possibility of a downloadable demo is impossible. =\
My above post contains a "replacement idea", if you're interested.

I'd like all the revealed characters, but no items and only one stage... i think that would be sweet! But so many characters in a demo, maybe a little unrealistic... But, anything that could feed me until Brawls release will be fine!

I'd sign it!

Online petitions never work, i'm warning you now.

If you have a replacement idea, then change the first post.
xD Then we'll have the signatures posted and printed out, then emailed to Sakurai's house address.
Individually.

First post updated.

I would expect a demo consisting only of mario, pikachu, link, and kirby fighting only on battlefield with no items, but a demo is not going to happen.

What if someone should up on your doorstep with a bunch of singnatures, demanding you show them part of something you've been working hard on for at least a year... I don't know about you but It would kind of piss me off.

That probbaly more of Brawl distribution area anyways

Dude, why the hell would you want them to waste time putting together a demo and delay the actual game even more?

When I play Brawl for the first time, I want to be overwhelmed with everything, not gradually dip my feet in the water.

Plus, we're all hoping for, like, a November release. If they wasted time with a demo, we'd be seeing Brawl in 2008.

Because, if we know how it is, we can actually comment the game. Things that we like, things that we don't like, things that need to be fixed etc. That would make it more @$$kicking when you play the complete game at home.
And eum, if you really want it to be so overwhelmed, then don't use the demo?

No, it would delay the game, and the Demo would consist of Mario, Link, Kirby and Pikachu on Battlefield, nothing more nothing less. It's not worth it.
