Anyone know why Isai's matches with the peruvians were swept under the rug by the community? What I mean is, nobody acknowledges that Gerson completely destroyed Isai's pikachu in a mirror match. That should mean gerson is the best player in the world, right? The attitude of people here is that isai is some untouchable god when the peruvians mopped the floor with him like he was nothing.

please consider this before ever stating isai is the best again (or saying superboomfan is the second best) and don't sweep isai's losses in peru under the rug

Okay, I'll bite.

He did lose matches to Peru, but he won a lot more than he lost. Character depth is an important factor; did you see his Link beat Gerson's Pikachu? Check out the 12 character battles. You can't take one matchup, and one match, and come to a solid conclusion. It's about building a body of evidence.

That being said, I don't know a lot of people who honestly care about who really is the definitive #1. Peru has great players. Isai is a great player. Boom is a great player. Jaime is a great player. That's good enough for me.

Your "mopped the floor with him like he was nothing comment" is pretty indicative that you're trolling, but whatever. I felt like responding anyways.

South America is legit, no doubt about that. Everyone here looks forward to and watches their vids. No one's sweeping anything under the rug.

where to start?

in their rat dittos, they played 10 matches. isai won 6 and gerson won 4. in any of their other matchups, isai had a distinct advantage. even in their fox-rat series, isai's fox won 7 matches, gerson's rat won 4

the only other matchup i think they had was isai's link against gerson's mario and isai 3 stocked him.

gerson gave him some great matches but i dont think anyone in their right mind would say gerson is better...

PS i think gerson vs boom would be a great set

you guys have it all wrong, if you want to be the best you have to win the major tournaments. That means that the 4 best players in the world are Gerson, Boom, Jousuke, and of course Ciaza.

Well said, and I would agree that amongst most smash players, no one really cares whose considered "the best", most good players just recognize and respect other good players.

wait I totally care who the best is, and you guys should too

It's ****ed up if the community grows so apathetic we can't even follow top matches and root for our favorite players

The peru matches generated a lot of excitement. Gerson's really good, as is the rest of Tacna.

However, we've already discussed this. At some length. Isai took 13 out of 21 recorded matches against Gerson. He won by 5 matches. If you're only going by the rat ditto, he still won 6 out of 10. Any way you want to slice it, Isai is still definitively and inarguably the best in the world. I feel like you're either a bad troll (and I seem to recall you making some ****ty posts in the past, so that's probable) or you've only seen one match.

Another factor is stages--we've only proven that isai is better on hyrule. I feel like his margin of victory would be even wider with the north american/european ruleset.

I don't know about you guys, but those matches were freaking hype for me. I was relieved and exultant when Isai came out on top. It was the coolest thing that's happened in this community for a long, long time. I really hope Isai and gerson get to play again sometime. If you really feel that peru's accomplishments have been swept under the rug because we're not STILL talking exclusively about that, lol.
