Persona Characters in Smash?

What do you guys think about a Persona character for Smash? I know Persona has been associated with Sony, but it is no longer exclusive to Sony consoles with the new game Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth coming to 3ds. I really think Teddy (Kuma) would fit well in Smash, because of his child friendly appearance. I know it is a longshot especially for this version of Smash, but I'm hoping someday they get some sort of representation (trophy, assist trophy, character).

It'd never happen, especially since Smash Bros is a game that comes out in Europe. We all know that Atlus has a vendetta against Europeans for some reason.

Wow I didn't realize that. I did see when Persona 4 golden got released in November here Europe didn't get until like 5 months later. Also back on topic I think that Persona getting any representation in Smash also depends on if anymore Persona games come out on Nintendo consoles. It looks like the main games will still be locked to Playstation, at least Persona 5 is.

Pretty much every character in my sig should be in before a persona rep.

Persona characters have their own series to battle in: Persona 4 arena. It's a fun game, and I believe it's getting a sequel.

Aside from Teddy, I couldn't see any Persona characters visually fitting into SSB. Plus, they're Playstation-exclusive anyways. Can't see it happening

Did you read the OP?

Koromaru (especially chibi Koromaru) and Teddy would both fit easily. But I would take almost any of the cast members.

I did say Teddy would fit (he's colorful and would give Smash another non-villainous heavyweight) perfectly with Smash, but a lot of the characters would come across as too similar in asethetic to the Fire Emblem/Xenoblade characters.

Plus, it's Playstation-exclusive so I could never see them getting in. 3rd parties only get in if they have a long history with Nintendo or have reached timeless/classic status (Sonic, Pac-Man, Megaman, Snake). There's 10-15 3rd parties that would make more sense at the moment than a Persona rep. And I wouldn't expect almost 20 3rd parties unless there was 150+ characters.

I'm pointing out the part in the OP where it shows Persona Q. A 3DS game featuring the characters. They're not Playstation Exclusive anymore (though I agree they're too heavily Playstation based to make it in).

Not soo much Persona but I could see them maybe trying to advertise Shin Megami Tensai X Fire Emblem more if they were to add a rep like this. Which in my opinion would be perfect due to I still want that game for Wii U but haven't heard anything about it since a long time ago.

I thought about Shin Megami Tensai since Persona is a spin-off of that, but I just thought the characters and themes were too dark for Smash. Plus the Persona series seems to be just as popular if not more lately.

One game on a Nintendo system doesn't make them likely candidates. It's also a spin-off so again not a main series entry. Unless a main series entry was released on Nintendo systems, I can't see a Persona rep.

Not saying Persona's impossible, but it's 98-99% unlikely at the moment. Plus, there's plenty of 1st and 2nd party reps that haven't been added yet.

It's defiantly possible, just not for a while. The game sold over a million copies which sony Santa Monica said that's what they wanted. Yoshida also said that the game sold well and that a sequel is possible just that they would have to change some of the gameplay mechanics.

Ok, that last line seems unnecessarily hostile. I do know quite a bit about the game. I just don't want it to get a sequel (in fact, I'd rather it had never been made).

Yeah I get that all those characters deserve to be in Smash before a Persona character. I was thinking more for future Smash games then this one, but if more Persona games appear on a Nintendo console in then I hope we get at least a trophy or something to start out.

They ARE video game characters. The anime adaptations came a few years after the original games. Hell,Persona 4 Arena came out BEFORE the anime.

Even so, I don't see a good reason why they should be in Smash 4. We already have more than enough 3rd party characters and other than Persona Q, I don't see any other relationships between Atlus & Nintendo.

For Persona? Yeah. Atlus doesn't have much. But they do have a long relationship.

Shin Megami Tensei. Many of these games, main series and spin offs (Not counting Persona Q) have been on nintendo consoles. Again, learn more before you talk about this subject.

The Persona games and characters seem to be a staple Sony series. Persona Q is the only Persona Game that is found on Nintendo consoles (not counting Shin Megami Tensei or Devil Summoner series).

The protagonists of Shin Megami Tensei and Devil Summoner have better chances of making it in SSB4 than the Persona Protagonist.

Persona is one of my favorite video game series so I do not appreciate you insulting the characters like that. You can have your own opinion on them, but you have obviously never played the games. They do have an anime as mentioned, but an anime was made because the characters in the video game are so popular.

There is the Shin Megami Tensei series, which has a lot of Nintendo representation. Especially in its spinoffs like Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga, etcetera. But there was also the huge cross promotion Nintendo did with Shin Megami Tensei IV and Fire Emblem Awakening.

Persona Q is the only real connection between Nintendo and Persona, but by no means their only connection with ATLUS.

Lest we forget, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is coming to the Wii U.

Despite them being in Persona 4 Arena/Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, I can't really see a Persona character making it in. I really can only see a demon like Jack Frost making it in the game, and representing Shin Megami Tensei. For the next Smash, if there is a next Smash.

Persona has no history with Nintendo consoles save for the upcoming Persona Q.
