Peach matchup

I play a friend who plays Peach, and he isn't very technical. Pretty sure he knows what wavedashing is and all that, but he doesn't do it. His game consists of rolls and a LOT of spot dodges. He does a good job shielding my approaches and turning it into a grab or a down smash. How should I play this matchup? If I stay back he nails me with turnips. When I approach he either grabs or shields into a downsmash or something like that. And whenever I get him off the stage, he recovers high and just floats back on stage so easily. Especially on platform stages. How should a Marth approach a Peach?

Bonus: What does it mean to "curl" the Up-B?

you can fair or nair the turnips

space so he can't punish you by CC'ing and downsmashing your ass into oblivion or shieldgrab or nair OoS

DD d-tilt/grab

when you land with an aerial, don't just stand there and you leave yourself vulnerable. you throw out an attack to hit your opponent. if it hits, you convert to a kill; if it misses, you dash away A$AP so you don't get rekt. after an aerial, dash away and if he approaches, evade him and grab him so you can kill him. same applies to downtilts. peach usually wants to dash attack you to start the combo, so know its range so you can dash away from it and dash back in to do some damage.

marth has one of the best hitboxes above him. up-air/uptilt him whenever he tries to come down. edgeguarding peach takes a long time; sometimes it's good to just juggle him for % with up airs/tilts and then go for a side-b to uptilt kill.

and if you want major style points, short hop approach him with fairs long enough to condition him to shield whenever you jump at him, and break the *****'s shield with neutral b, taunt, and fsmash the **** out of him.

tl; dr: figure out why you're getting hit and change it up

One easy conversion out of a grab that can help you get kills once you can get in is f-throw to f-smash. If he's not very technical then he probably won't really DI out of it.

At 0% you will basically either get a tipper and do 24% while getting Peach offstage, and if it doesn't tipper then Peach is in the air and you can juggle her.

You can also start setting up a fair combo if you can chase him down in the air. It might not be so much of a combo though and more like a straight up Ken combo lol. Against a good Peach this stuff may not work quite as much, but you can still put it in if you play correctly.

Not Dreamland lol, just anything where you can kill Peach early so she won't live forever. FD and Dreamland are off limits, everything else is ok, Yoshi's is best imo

Your best moves with Marth against Peach are well spaced f-airs, dash grabs, and d-tilts. Great combos include a 0% forward throw into a tipper f-smash (this is also a great kill combo, though more DI dependent at higher percents). Don't crouch cancel anything (especially not d-smash unless you enjoy eating over 40% at once) and try not to camp as much because Peach's turnips are best projectile. Ken combos on Peach are not going to come as often because she is so floaty (especially if your friend has good DI) so know when you can use them, but don't constantly try for them.
