Peach main here, looking to transition

Hey guys, I've been playing Peach for about a year now, but I have become increasingly frustrated at some of her bad matchups (Marth and Sheik in particular). I need a Fox, at least for counterpicking purposes, and maybe for a main.

I know about all the tech- drillshine->upsmash, shinegrab, shffl-anything. I want to know, what would a Peach->Fox transitioner need to know from the mental game? Does a Fox need to be more patient, are there moves from other characters (Marth/Sheik in particular) that I will need to deal with in an entirely different way?

Fox is a good jack of all trades. You should think about the parts of the match up you have trouble with when you play Peach and think of how Fox will help you overcome that. If you're tired of Marths swatting you out of the air with the sword in neutral then maybe you're looking for Fox to help you counter his approaches or actually have mobility to catch him easily. Then again, Falco can attempt to lock down Marth's movement with lasers and potentially do the same things just as well.

Think about the same things with Sheik, and also consider that maybe Falco does better in the neutral, or maybe a character like Puff compliments your playstyle already but handles the match up better.

Just because Fox is a jack of all trades doesn't mean you need to use him when you can't come up with a solution. If you're set on picking him up, just remember that grabs are potentially more dangerous with Fox in those match ups because Marth can grab into uptilt/fair/utilt combos for days, Sheiks can tech chase forever, and both can throw you off and gimp you, and in fact anytime you're off the stage you need to be a little bit more cautious than with Peach.

ps Marth is still scary.
