Hey guys quick question any help would be much appreciated. I have a comp that has 20XX on it with a Dvi to vga adapter that runs to an old school Dell CRT monitor. I am playing on dolphin but this question is about OFFLINE 20XX self practice. Is it worth practicing on this set up or should I play on my 20XX set up in my basement (yes I have a normal one but that's why I am asking). If I can play on this I'm looking to use it to record myself and friendlies with homies offline. Basically what I'm asking is if the lag is going to be an issue. When I Play don't see much of a difference but I don't know as much about input lag as others on this thread.

Tl;dr
Is practicing offline on dolphin on a crt monitor going to hurt my actually performance in console or am I going to get the same accuracy out of it. (Especially when practicing reactionary stuff)

Your Dolphin setup should be fine, probably about 1 frame lag (from RAMDAC desync) over console + non-laggy CRT setup. This is too little to be much of a problem.

If you still want to have even less lag, you could buy a used Wii (if you don't have one already) and a Wii VGA cable for 20$ each, which will allow you to connect your console to your Dell CRT monitor (I hope it has two VGA inputs).

Thank you based Kadano. I have other setups I just figured having this one I can utilize OBS, Twitch, etc without a cap card and still practice if it won't effect my tournament play. Thanks for your help!

So I was using a white smash 4 controller and was pretty happy with it, but then I dropped it a few times and now the L gets stuck in like 3 places when I try to press it and the controller has become basically unusable (I miss at least 20% of anything I need to press a shoulder button for).

I have a black smash 4 controller with a really good L trigger, but the stick doesn't feel as good to me (feels harder to shield drop and I keep turning around instead of dashing). Is there anyway I can take the good part of one controller and use it for the other, or just any way to fix my white controller in general?

I would straight up replace the trigger and spring with those from a random used controller no one wants. There is something wrong with the trigger mechanism/trigger gate on sm4sh controllers imo. Clunky and they get stuck. I've also lightly sanded the top and bottom of the R trigger to have it slide more smoothly. Graphite as a dry lubricant would probably help too, as far as making the trigger better, but I honestly think you should put an older trigger setup in. There is probably a better solution but that's what I do, mostly because of pain that has stayed in my right index finger from hitting R so much.

I do have a number of old controllers with broken sticks that I can probably scavage for parts. I assume replacing the trigger/spring is something there are tutorials for online, right?
