I got approval for there to be rants on crappy PCs from Werekill, just don't start flame wars and he/she said "Keep it civil".

Anyways, talk about your PC here. Is it a good PC? List the specs if you like. Is it a ****ty PC like what I have? Post a rant to vent.

My PC is pretty horrible, the only thing it can really do perfectly is watch videos and play 16 Bit Era games (8 Bit too), my PC can't even play PS1 games without it constantly lagging and this is PS1, the most frames you'll see is 15 Frames on a actual console, for it to constantly lag is painful. The worst part is my mom refuses to replace this PC with a new one despite it having caught 5 viruses before (NOT from looking at porn btw but for Let's Plays on Youtube) and being 10 years out of date. I ****ing hate this PC and my friends keep telling me to upgrade it, but there's nothing I can do when mom thinks it works fine except constantly tell her how big a piece of **** this thing is.

My computer was really awesome when I first got it, but years and years of use have started to show its effect. It's slowing down a lot and some mornings I'll wake up and go to the computer and everything is completely frozen and when I try to open task manager everything just goes black and I have to reset it. It kinda sucks, but it does everything I need it to do, so it'll last until I can afford something better.

Mine's still doing pretty solid, but it's a few years old and could stand a GPU upgrade. Maaaaaaybe a new processor or SSD or somethin' to make Firefox behave a bit nicer, too.

The second monitor probably isn't helping things behave, but once you go double screens, y'just can't go back, y'know?

I understand. This PC use to be fantastic, but 10 years later, they're giving away computers better then this one.

To anyone having smaller PC issues, I'd like to point you to the first point on this article.

I'd also like to point you to all of John Cheese's articles, because they're bloody fantastic, but that's irrelevant.

Also, Booster, have you tried a complete reformat? It won't make **** work like new because I'd imagine, after ten years, that the physical parts have had some wear and/or tear, but it might help. Would be a huge pain to back everything up, though. Also, if you haven't recently, yank the case off and dust the sucker out.

The problem most of the time with older video cards and chipsets is that people let the thermal paste dry out. Once that drys out they will overheat. It's good to reapply thermal paste every year or so.

Mom won't let me touch this PC, she claims it's fine and yet shes used her phone or tablet to browse the internet for about 2 years
