I did a search and I couldnt find anything, but this might be a cool addition to smash. Think about what parrying did for Sf3:3. Also, im not talking about character specific moves like doc's cape or even powershielding, Im talking about a simple way to parry moves without shielding. Discuss.

How is smash not a health based fighter. The more your percentage goes up the more likely you're dead.

Not true at higher levels of smash my friend. If you get your opponent to 150% or more, most of your combos dont work, good luck hitting someone with a lucky forward smash when they're expecting it and have good mindgames. 60-90% is usually the ideal percentage time to kill someone.

And by health based fighter I mean a fighter game where you havea health bar like traditional fighters such as Mortal Kombat, Streetfighter, and the like.

Melee has counters anyway which work kind of like a parry, and I dont think everyone should have them either, im happy with them belonging only to a few characters.

Edit : that youtube link is the leetest thing in video gaming, ever. Next to maybe some starcraft reps of slayerS_B0xer. I saw it a long time ago.

A parry is when you block with your weapon, ex. you attack an enemy's attack with a sword.

Parrying is already in Super Smash Bros. Melee with virtually anyone. For example, Peach's Slap attack can cancel out someone else's A attack at the right moment, which makes that "clink" sound. Same with sword vs. sword people, where it is most noteable, and has the most distinct "clink" sound when their swords contact.

^^ good point. That's not a parry though, it usually happens by accident between two disjointed hitboxes. Smash would be dumb with parrying, I doubt itll be in brawl.

Nope, it's what makes SC3 kinda annoying to play. I hate the fact that either way someone gets a free hit.

Interesting logic. I think it would add a new dynamic to the game that's completely skill-based, leaving room for new strategies and alternative routes to win.
