Has it been confirmed whether or not the amount of alternate costumes is the same for both games?
I'd assume/hope not.

I'm very interested in the answer to this question...

Has Sakurai ever said that each version has the same alt costumes, just with the Wii U versions obviously in HD?

I'm really, really, really hoping the Wii U version has a ton of new Alts on the disc. There's so many great possibilities for outfits / homages that the 3DS version missed out on:

Outset Island Toon Link (lobster shirt)
Dry Bowser
Justin Bailey Samus
Helmetless Samus
Super Metroid ending Zero Suit Samus
Skyward Sword Zelda
Hyrule Warriors Zelda
Shirtless Ike
Race Outfit Rosalina
Hot Tub Palutena (lol)

Anyone know?

Quoting a pic of the day for when Samus's bikini suit was shown:
"Here's a look at the 3DS version. You can use the same outfit variations in both the 3DS and Wii U versions."

I'm afraid the Wii U version will not extend the costume selection, but I'm still hoping for free updates adding more to both versions.

I wouldn't expect new alts(unless it's for both version, like a full Lucas reskin for Ness), but more colors could be DLC.

Not sure why you'd expect more stuff on the Wii U.
It's a bigger more expensive game on a bigger more expensive console.

I try very very hard to be patient with the 3DS buyers, but if you can't handle less stuff than the console than you're plain greedy.
You're getting a handheld smash for cheaper; you don't need the same stuff brah.

Its only more expensive because its on a console. Not because its a better game.

So you're telling me the incentive to PAY MORE MONEY for a game is because "it's on a console"?
Dude, you and I both know that's not how you make profit.

There's a reason the game isn't dropping same day, there's a reason 3DS has been shown 80% of including Smash Run/Stages etc.

Trust me friend, it's already set in stone that the Wii U will have more to offer, won't be "a better game" because the gameplay is what makes Smash Bros what it is, but will have a bigger experience.

The reason Sakurai announced at the start that we have the same roster is just so noone decapitated him later on--
The rest, is different.

That's one of the only reasons I made this thread is because I figured we would also get more costumes... because we should, honestly.
