So I recently got into Melee, but my Wii broke. Played Dolphin for a while (NTSC) and then decided to get a real GameCube. Doing some Ken combo's, I saw the AI doing up-B's to escape my combo's... So I Googled it and found out that Marth down aerial is a meteor smash in this game.

TO THE POINT
Is it still even useful to do his down aerial when the opponent can just escape? Are there certain situations where it's still a spike, when the opponent has high damage for example? Or should I just stop trying?

You don't, but the idea is to hit them with a reverse up-b to send them far horizontally off stage, near-guaranteeing a kill if they're at a high enough %. Depending on DI, you can do a Ken combo with a reverse-up b in place of the down air.

Wow reverse B is really good :o It makes it way easier to recover. Thanks guys, it's a great way to still do epic combo's :D
