PAL, homebrew install freezing. Loads up looking like vanilla brawl

Hey, just wanted to get my hands dirty and install PM for my PAL wii. Followed a reddit guide that was pretty good. Installed the custom OS's, usb loaders etc. Not sure whats wrong but I load up the game in CFG loader (usb loader gx not showing Brawl for some unknown reason), did all the OS 249, enable ocarina and set the hook to VBI (tried it with AXNextFrame too), game loads up as a vanilla brawl, with the PM characters. If i try and play the game freezes with a loud noise, and i need to reset.

-tried reformatting the sdhc card.
-made sure all paths point towards proper locations
-replacing PM files on sd with fresh ones from the rar.

Unsure of what i can do next. Bummer since i was hoping to play.

I fully restarted everything and followed that guide and it worked. Thank you so much!

Once I finish installing using that guide, I like to go into usb loader gx and hit the update button in the menu. Get it up to the latest release.
