For anyone who knows how, I would greatly appreciate it. I just want to know on how to own a car and the many responsibilities that come with it. I use public transportation and I hate it because I get off work around 7pm and it takes 2 hours to get back home to play smash. I would not like to bring out smash out there in public because in my area, people will most likely steal your valued items. What do??

Check out the Classifieds for automobiles and some of the more reputable dealers in your area; maybe a relative or trustworthy friend of yours would be looking to sell their unwanted car to you. I would stay away from finding something cheap on Craigslist, because it's notoriously rife with scams and you might get sold a lemon. Of course, you're going to need a license to drive in the first place, so hopefully you have that already covered! ;)

Provide basic maintenance on your car: every once in a while check the tires with a gauge (they have these at any gas station) and see if they are low on air, as well as look for any nails/glass/etc. embedded in the rubber -- those will have to be repaired. Change the oil about every 5000 miles or five months. Always check for a working spare tire and the original jack and tire iron for the car. If you ask the seller to show you where the oil, coolant, and transmission are, they'll more than likely help you find them. Most cars will still have the manuals they were bought with that have all sorts of useful diagrams and information to assist you as well.

Basic maintenance, basic maintenance oh and did I say basic maintenance? Just some other important things to add from Jen's suggestions. Make sure that your fluids (Power steering, transmission and most importantly brake fluid) are topped off at the appropriate level in the reservoir. Along with that, a proper tire rotation and alignment is also something to always keep a lookout.

Once you get a car though, you either do the labor yourself and save TONS of money or get a reputable mechanic to do these things for you. It's better if you know somebody who is a diy oriented mechanic though like how I'm.

Never assume the car will never break down. Try to always keep spare money for when parts start to fall apart or stop functioning correctly on the car.
