Overheating Issues

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me with an issue I've been having with my labtop.

Recently I've been using my labtop and after a while it'll turn off. The last time this happened it was due to a broken internal fan so I checked to see if my labtop was raising in temperature and sure enough it was. However after a while I turn it back on to confirm if my internal fan broke and it didn't seem like it was. I stared at it for a few minutes and it didn't turn off at all.

There really is no specific time interval for it to turn off to. Once it was 10 mins, another time it was like 4 hours etc etc.

I've been wondering, what are possible causes and possible solutions to this?

Also I'm not sure if it helps but a while ago my labtop battery died so I took it out of my labtop since it was unusable and effectively turn it into a desktop pretty much.

I've also been trying to lower the amount of programs running at once to try to reduce the power my labtop needs to use.

Thanks for your help everyone, I really appreciate it.

Hey, maybe Teczero puts the computer on the top of a scientific laboratory. Then wouldn't you feel silly?

I'd try dusting it out. Get a can of air and make sure all the fans can spin properly.

It also might depends on where the laptop is mainly. Dusty rooms are always bad =\ Open up the laptop, clean it up. Is your room hot? <- also bad.

Giving us the computer specs will help a lot though

If you don't have a battery and your only running it with it plugged into an outlet then that's not too good at all, I know your problem has been solved but for future reference try getting a battery for it, I know their expensive but it's worth it.

Is it?

I always assumed it really didn't make a giant difference. I kinda put the dead battery back in just because.

I never really cared about it because I never really travel with it that often anyway.

It's better to be running off battery than be constantly plugged in, overheating can happen quick when your plugged in which is a computer's worst nightmare.
