My question is: When your opponent is above you in a free fall state, what would be the best choice of attack, if they are falling in the middle of the stage. So please list what you would do in this scenario, and different attacks, percentages, stages. I find myself just doing a bair, unless they are near the edge then dair. But should i be doing something else. thanks in advance

Depending on their percentage, I like to fullhop towards them for a shine›uair/bair, wait it out to catch them with a smash, or catch them with a SHFFLed dair on their way down to begin a pillar. It doesn't sound like you're doing anything particularly wrong, just not capitalizing on opportunities to do more.

what your asking is completely dependent on character / your percent / other players percent. but i mean i can say that high percents go for that charged f-smash, but dont be greedy, if they have a chance of shielding before you charge completely hit them before otherwise youll get punished hard. Low percents you should start with a nice shine because it combos into a lot, but floaties arent really combo'ed hard by shine.

Low Percents - Guaranteed follow ups
Mid Percents - Smash them off stage - gain stage control
High Percents - Kill

If there's a platform, I'll shine to waveland to keep the combo from the platform. If there's no available platform I'll sh-shine-bair/nair/dair depending on the situation.

. When I'm under the plat and the foe is above it, that's a situation in which, for some reason, I nearly always flub the waveland. So, I usually end up waiting a bit, sh›shine, and then hit them with a bair just before they hit the plat so they can't tech and get stuck in a tumble.
But it essentially leads to a reset, unless I can catch them with a laser.

Just don't do a lateral waveland. Waveland vertically. If you see mango on yoshi story, you'll see he often does that if the opponents DI is not excessive.

That's usually what I try to do, but my timing is absolute garbage. Maybe it's because of my recently-developed carpal tunnel syndrome, but my tech skill has plummeted lately. Regardless, I will work on improving it.

If you're 100% safe (Opponent is unnable to hit you) double jump closer to the platform. It is easier to do this way.
